Views in this work are entirely mine. I predominantly watch TAC footy however I am fortunate to watch some additional footage and have a few connections which give me a very limited amount of inside information. I may have over selected or under selected a couple of picks late. I reckon Ball, Smith and Bradshaw will wait till PSD so haven’t included them here. I think Ball will go early 2nd round and Smith late 2nd round if available in national draft.

Melbourne Pick 1 Tom Scully Midfielder Dandenong
Fantastic midfielder who ticks all the boxes. Top shelf endurance runner, fast enough and disposes of the footy equally well on both sides. Scully is deceptively strong and will make an impact at AFL level next year however there is more scope for improvement in terms of developing a really strong AFL body. Off the field Scully is determined and driven and will do everything you can ask to become an elite AFL player.

Melbourne Pick 2 Jack Trengove Midfielder SA
Trengove is clearly the second best player in this draft and will also make an immediate impact at AFL level. Trengove is an accumulator of possessions who can win his own ball as well as being a damaging outside midfielder who possesses a penetrating kick that can break lines. I hate to make outlandish predictions but there is a bit of Nathan Buckley in Trengove. All reports are Trengove is equally driven and disciplined as Scully. The Demons fans will undoubtedly watch these two kids develop over the next couple of years.

Richmond Pick 3 Dustin Martin Midfielder Bendigo
Martin is a strong bodied midfielder who is a natural footballer. Is able to win his ball and has probably played predominantly as an inside midfielder at TAC level due to playing in a weak side. Martin has the disposal to be equally effective playing a slightly more outside role in AFL footy as Martin has better than average kicking skills. What will really appeal to Tiger fans is Martin is genuinely tough who dislikes losing contests and willingly puts his body on the line. Martin spent significant time with the Tigers at Draft Camp and unless Melbourne pass on Trengove he will be wearing yellow and black.

Freo Pick 4 Anthony Morabito Utility WA
Morabito is an exciting athlete who is in the 190cm range, is quick and kicks the footy with depth. I think his AFL footy position will be as an attacking half back who will run and carry on the large Subiaco ground. There has been criticism of Morabito’s kicking however for mine he is more effective when he kicks long and low rather than trying to spot shorter targets. Morabito is better than average in the air which could also allow him to switch hit as a forward on occasion.

NM Pick 5 Gary Rohan Utility Geelong
This is where the draft could go in a few different directions. I am selecting Rohan here because I think he provides the Roos with a player that they do not currently have in abundance which is a super quick dasher who can break lines and play forward, midfield or back. Rohan is not going to get a lot of the ball compared to a Cunnington or Stevens however he could split a game open with a few devastating runs. I also think Rohan has scope for significant improvement as he has not been in the TAC system as much as some of the other players in this draft.

Swans Pick 6 John Butcher Key Position Gippsland
Butcher is the best key forward in the draft and I think the Swans should go with him here. My reasoning for this selection is the Swans also have pick 14 which will allow them to get a good quality midfielder. I think Butcher has slipped a little due to circumstance as well as indifferent form and his drop has reminded me of Rich and Clark in previous drafts. Butcher could develop in to a strong near 200cm CHF and compliment Lewis Johnstone and Jesse White in a new look Swans forward line of the future. The likely Daniel Bradshaw pick up may change things here however he is the best key forward in the draft and I think he could be a very damaging tall forward at AFL level-those players are hard to come by.

WC Pick 7 Daniel Talia Key Position Calder
Talia is made for 2009 football. 195cm tall, athletic, strong endurance runner, fast enough and can play anywhere on the football field. This selection goes against the grain however the Eagles have two early picks in the second round where they can continue to build their midfield whereas the key position depth is simply nonexistent in this draft. Talia is a quality person who would adapt to moving to WA and will add significant depth to the WC KP stocks playing either forward or back.

PA Pick 8 Ben Cunnington Midfielder/Flanker Geelong
Strong midfielder/ flanker who is a favourite of mine in this draft. Cunnington is a ball magnet who is extremely strong at every contest and craves physical contests. Cunnington has better than average kicking skills and is also effective playing forward. Cunnington is able to play inside or outside and has strong defensive skills which make him a valuable team member. I have a slight concern about Cunnington’s athleticism as he is not overly quick and I think he will need to work on this side of the game. However I think Cunnington will become a better than good AFL footballer who will play predominantly on a flank with runs through the midfield a little like Luke Hodge does.

PA Pick 9 Jake Melksham Midfielder Calder
Melksham is also a favourite of mine and is really silky mover on the footy field. Melksham possesses better than average skills on both sides of his body. He is very evasive on the footy field and strong in the air for his size. Melksham is another who can play inside or outside and is versatile enough to play through the midfield or on a flank. Melksham is a dedicated athlete who would adapt well to AFL footy and ironically would join his former PEGS captain Jackson Trengove at the Power.

Essendon Pick 10 Kane Lucas Midfielder/Flanker WA
Lucas is a very solid footballer who has the prototype size and strength to become an AFL midfielder. I like Lucas’ first few steps as he is a slippery player on the footy field. His kicking is good enough and I see him as being a solid inside player as well as being a link midfielder at AFL level. Lucas can also play through the forward line which gives him another string to his bow. Lucas has the body to make an immediate impact at AFL level.

Melbourne Pick 11 Andrew Moore Utility Eastern
Andrew Moore is a superior athlete in this draft and a legitimate match winner. On pure ability I rate Moore third most talented in this draft. Moore is capable of playing anywhere on the footy field and reminds me a little like Adam Goodes who utilises his size and athleticism. Moore’s performance against Geelong in the TAC finals was one of the best efforts I have seen at Tac level where he kicked 4 goals in a quarter in a dominant display. I think Moore will start as a dangerous medium forward however I think he could develop into an AFL star playing as a tall modern utility.

Carlton Pick 12 Aaron Black Key Position WA
Black is a slightly mature age key position forward who played some very good footy in WA and kept developing as the year progressed. Black also tested exceptionally well at draft camp and by all reports presented very well during interviews with clubs. I think Carlton will roll the dice on a key position player here and would hope for Talia with this pick but will settle for Black in front of Carlisle, Panos and Griffiths. If Black can continue to develop he should enjoy his time being fed by the likes of Judd, Gibbs and Murphy.

Adelaide Pick 13 Luke Tapscott Midfielder SA
Tapscott is a strong bodied midfielder who has the deadly weapon of a line breaking kick. Tapscott is quick enough, however he is more of a spurt athlete rather than a running machine and should fill in the void of a Goodwin or Edwards. Tapscott has the body to play straight away and will compliment the Crows strong bodied mids who can really kick the footy.

Sydney Pick 14 Koby Stevens Midfielder Gippsland
Swannies go for another Gippsland standout- Bourkey shudders with disappointment! Stevens is a strong bodied athlete who had a disappointing end to the year due to the dreaded OP. Stevens can win his own footy and enjoys running hard and linking up between contests. I think Stevens has been undersold slightly here and could well end up at Port or Essendon however the Swans would be a great fit for Koby.

WB Pick 15 Lewis Jetta Midfielder WA
Lightning quick linebreaker who will sizzle at Etihad Stadium and will be a handful to keep up with. The Bulldogs have identified two weaknesses in their list- Power Forward who they hope Hall and Roughead longer term will fill and speed. The Bulldogs are in the enviable position of knowing they have Liberatore and Wallis next year thus can really target their drafting needs and know they have two really solid selections next year. Jetta is rather thin however I think he will see senior action next year.

PA Pick 16 Matthew Panos Key Position SA
Panos is a mark and kick specialist who was impressive during the national championships. I think if Butcher is gone they will likely go with two mids at pick 8 and 9 and look to go tall with 16. I considered Carlisle and Griffiths here with Houghton as a smokey however I think Panos is too good a fit to pass on. I must say I am keen to see whether Panos can really develop into a high quality AFL player. If he can the Power will have positively plundered this draft I think.

Geelong Pick 17 Jake Carlisle Key Position Calder
Carlisle is a 197cm key position player who is equally comfortable playing forward and back. Carlisle had a very good nationals and was super impressive on Butcher during the finals. I see a lot of upside to Carlisle who has only been at Calder for 18 months. Carlisle grew an amazing 22 cm in a year and a half and I think he will develop into a very good AFL player.

Melbourne Pick 18 Ben Griffiths Key Position Eastern
Griffiths is a powerhouse key position player who is surprising quick over the first 20m. Griffiths has been injury prone over his junior career however he simply has an AFL key position build and would complement the athletic Watts and exciting Jurrah. Griffiths is a penetrating kick who I think could develop into a Quentin Lynch like AFL player.

Richmond Pick 19 Ryan Bastinac Midfielder Dandenong
Bastinac is an exciting midfielder who I think will be a link/ slightly outside midfielder who is a terrific kick of the footy who also displays excellent vision when he gets the footy. Bastinac is going to need to work on his upper body and continue to build his core to withstand the bumps and hits however he has the skills and the ability to win and dispose skilfully of the footy which are qualities which I reckon Richmond will and need to covet.

Freo Pick 20 Mitch Duncan Mid/Flanker WA
Duncan is a smart uncompromising footballer who does a hell of a lot of things right. Freo are clearly rebuilding their list and Duncan should be there for the long haul. Duncan is able to run through the middle and also through the flanks. He is a good kick, is quick enough, has a developing AFL tank and has an AFL body. The consistent talk is the Dockers will go for Taylor here however Morabito has enough sizzle they should take the chance to get a real solid citizen here.

NM Pick 21 Jordan Gysberts Mid/Flanker Eastern
Gysberts is harshly judged on BF for mine. He can rack up the possessions when playing through the midfield, he wins his own ball and delivers at a more than acceptable level of ability. Gysberts also has the ability to play forward as he is deceptively tall and can kick goals consistently. Gysberts may not be the quickest of athletes but he is not slow and he runs all day for mine. He should fit in well for Kangas and be a solid member of their midfield rotations.

WC Pick 22 Brad Shepherd Mid/ Flanker WA
Shepherd is a Woosha special for mine. Doesn’t like losing a contest can run all day will develop into a strong bodied AFL midfielder/flanker who is solid and consistent in his output. There is some talk the Eagles will take him at 7- that’s too early for mine however at this selection he is good value who should develop into a regular AFL footballer.

WC Pick 23 Allen Christensen Mid/Small Fwd Geelong
Christensen is a natural footballer who does a lot of things right on the footy field. Exciting talent who can win his own footy, is creative with the footy and is brave at every contest. I could see Christensen being tried as a small fwd to release LeCras further up the field. His creativity should allow him to flourish at AFL level and he will appreciate the space that Subiaco will afford him.

Essendon Pick 24 Troy Taylor Utility Northern Territory
Taylor is a wildcard in this draft. Could go to Port at Pick 16, Freo are apparently keen at 20 and WC would also have to look at him. I have him falling to Pick 24 and he is a bit of a boom or bust selection for mine. Taylor can do the spectacular on the footy field however he is going to have to work hard on his running and develop some consistency to his game. There is a massive difference between his best and worst at this stage.

NM Pick 25 Jesse Creighton Midfielder Tasmania
Creighton is a silky mover who wins his own footy and has the talent required to dish it off at a high level of effectiveness. Creighton will need to put considerable work into his upper body however he has a nice frame and by all reports the dedication to do so. Jesse can play both inside and outside which has allowed him to be a prolific ball winner at all levels of footy.

Essendon Pick 26 Callum Bartlett Midfielder Geelong
Slightly undersized midfielder who has missed this year due to a serious knee injury. Can seriously play though. He wins a lot of the footy, is hard at the contest and is athletically afl like in his capabilities. By all reports he has recovered well from the knee injury. Hard to say if he goes a bit earlier than this or not however it would not surprise if he did. The bombers have a spotin their midfield rotation straight away for a player like Bartlett I would imagine.

Brisbane Pick 27 Jasper Mcmillan Pittard Flanker Geelong
One of the real wildcard dashers of the TAC this year. Jasper is deceptively tall- about 185cm, really quick and agile and can kick beautifully on both sides of his body. I see Jasper evolving into a Lindsay Gilbee type player who plays the quarterback type role at half back. Has not really been noted on these boards however Geelong really missed this kid during their disappointing loss to Dandenong.

Geelong Pick 28 Nate Fyfe Utility WA
Fyfe is a talented exciting player who has been compared to Brett Burton. I think Fyfe can develop into an AFL 3rd/4th tall who will try and expose his opponent in the air. Hawkins will be the cornerstone of the Cats forward line moving forward however Fyfe could be a valuable piece of the future puzzle.

Adelaide Pick 29 Ryan Harwood OB/ Flanker Tasmania
Harwood is a quick enough, a nice kick and a good mover in traffic. I think Harwood has the ability to play through the midfield as well as the half back line. I look at Harwood as being an AFL style athlete who I think will flourish in the Adelaide system.

Collingwood Pick 30 Josh Thomas MidfielderQueensland
Another midfielder who can play inside and outside. Has the Magpie traits of being fierce at all contests and does not like losing a physical battle on the footy field. I like Thomas’ decision making with the footy and I think he will ease naturally into AFL footy and provide an additional midfield option for the Pies.

WB Pick 31 Max Gawn Ruck Sandringham
Gawn is another player who missed the majority of the year due to injury. Gawn is a tall ruckman who is a good palmer of the ball and moves to good spots on the footy field. His skills are decent for big fella and he has a frame which suggests he can put on significant weight. I think the Doggies may go for Gawn here as I rate Cordy more as a forward while Roughead could also play key position. You get a chance to take 206cm ruckman everyday and I think the Doggies will swoop here.

St Kilda Pick 32 Joel Houghton Key Position WA
Houghton is a smooth moving tall who reminds me a great deal like Ryan Shoenmakers last year. Houghton tests very well well athletically and is smart enough on the footy field. He is going to need to get stronger in the body and with his hands but if he is smart he will follow number 12 everywhere and carve himself a decent AFL career.

Essendon Pick 33 Anthony Long Half Back Calder/ Northern Territory
There is a deal of romanticism with this pick however I think Long has the assets that Knights is looking for with his game plan. Long is a sneaky tall half back who is cat like agile and fast. He uses the ball okay and is good in the air for his size. Long has had injury issues and will need to bulk up considerably however he reminds me more than a little of Courtenay Dempsey at the same age and I think this kid fits at Essendon for a variety of valid reasons.

Melbourne Pick 34 Nathan Vardy Ruck Gippsland
I am not as sold on Vardy as some. He is an athletic ruckman who doesn’t do anywhere near enough around the ground for mine and runs to silly places too often. We all know that talls take longer to develop than mids however for every Warnock there is a 100 Dean Putts and Vardy hasn’t sold me yet. However he is the 2nd best ruckman in the draft and I think the Demons will bite here.

Richmond Pick 35 Alex Carey Mid/Flanker SA
The tigers get another quality midfielder here who is hardnosed and ready for a scrap. Carey wins a lot of hard contested footy and distributes it well enough. I like Carey’s 1%s especially as I think his tackling and pressure he puts on opponents will be valued highly by Dimma.

Fremantle Pick 36 David Astbury Key Position NthBallarat
Astbury is an athletic tall who has displayed real versatility at TAC level playing forward and back. I prefer Astbury forward and I can visualise him playing a hard running tall forward role at Subiaco. Astbury has considerable work to put in the gymnasium however he is the sort of prospect that should excite Freo supporters.

NM Pick 37 Sam Reid Key Position Murray Bushrangers
Athletic tall who has an absolute heap of development left in him. I can see Reid slowly developing into a key position back where he could also be quite offensive running from the backline to launch attacks. Reid will need to bulk up considerably but has the athletic ability clubs are looking for.

Sydney Pick 38 Joe Dare Utility Geelong
Joe Dare just kept improving as the year progressed in the TAC competition. Dare is that third tall defender type who is hard at the contest, can nullify his opponent and can also launch attacks from half back. I think Dare could be a nice replacement for Leo Barry in time and his attack on the ball and the man will endear himself to the Sydney playing group.

Hawthorn Pick 39 Jack Fitzpatrick Key Position/ Ruck Western
Fitzpatrick is over 200cm tall and is an athlete of high calibre. I watched him closely this year and felt like his footy hit a plateau a little this year. However he was in an unremarkable side which fed him poorly when he played forward. I would like to see jack focus on his ruckwork and really monitor how Mitch Clark and Paddy Ryder played the ruck this year. That is his go and if he developed fully he could be that sort of a player.

Geelong Pick 40 Daniel Menzel Flanker/Onball SA
Smart mover on the footy field Menzel is one of those blokes who can make footy look easy. I think the Cats will try and develop Menzel into a quarterback style half back in the mould of Corey Enright. Menzel is very clean in winning the footy and makes terrific choices when he gets the footy.

NM Pick 41 Roland AhChee Onballer Northern Territory
The roos bolster their midfield stocks with an absolute ball magnet in AhChee. Roland is hard at the contest and just keeps accumulating disposals. A criticism of Ahchee is that he doesn’t quite hurt you enough with the ball however I think he will develop into a strong inside midfielder who can use his hands a little more at AFL level. Ahchee is AFL ready with his body and could make a bit of an impact in 2010.

Geelong Pick 42 James Craig Key Position/ Ruck SA
Super athletic tall who I think the Cats may try at CHB moving forward. Had a very good national carnival playing predominantly as a slightly undersized ruckman. Clark and Ryder give blokes like Craig AFL hope but he needs to play key position to add some versatility to his game.

Carlton Pick 43 Chris Luff Key Position WA
Carlton go tall once more here. I have seen Luff play primarily as a key position forward however I think he has the athleticism and smarts to be a bit more versatile than that and I could see this bloke also playing at CHB. Luff is a nice moving tall who has a very clean pair of hands. Luff will need to get stronger but is a player who could easily go in the second round for mine because of his upside.

Richmond Pick 44 Dylan Grimes 3rd Tall Northern Knights
A favourite of mine. Grimes just hates to lose a contest and I can see him playing and developing into a Craig Bolton like defender. Nothing too flashy but athletic, able to play small or tall and very rarely beaten. Grimes tested very well at Draft Camp and like his brother he is an impressive man off the field. A ten year player for mine who won’t get too many accolades but should be a reliable AFL foot soldier.

Adelaide Pick 45 Sam Shaw Utility Oakleigh
This kid has the athleticism that AFL clubs salivate over. Agile, quick and a superior vertical leap this kid is an athlete. As a footballer there is plenty to work with but much more to develop. I see Shaw becoming a Grant Burchill like tall flanker who can break lines through half back and the wing. Shaw has plenty to learn footy wise and will take time however the Crows should be able to develop this athlete into a good footballer.

Hawthorn Pick 46 Dylan Roberton Utility Dandenong
Roberton is another tall dasher who plays primarily off half back. Roberton seems to weave his way through traffic and is a very good kick with either foot. I see Roberton as a tall flanker type who provides plenty of drive from half back however I think he could also take his turn in the midfield a pump the ball accurately into the forward line.

Brisbane Pick 47 Ayden Kennedy Key Position Eastern
A very quick tall who I think can be a negating defender at AFL level. A late bloomer Kennedy has eye catching speed which he uses defensively to great effect. He needs to continue to learn how and when to use his athleticism offensively however he has some assets which are well worth developing.

Fremantle Pick 48 Travis Colyer Onballer WA
Super small onballer who is really quick and is a highly skilled footballer. Many on Bigfooty see him going earlier than this and he has the talent to warrant such thoughts. I can see Colyer being a dangerous small forward as well as being a quick smart midfielder who will use the footy accurately and hurt opposition teams with his disposal.

Fremantle Pick 49 Mitchell Thorp Key Position Hawthorn
Injury riddled tall who has not even touched on the natural ability the good lord gave him. Attitude problems off the field certainly have been well documented however the kid when fit can play footy. The Dockers could be the side who give this kid a second chance and he may well get his act together after the shock of delistment while still contracted. Harvey will need to be at his toughest with this kid but I think it is a high risk high reward pick for the Dockers.

Melbourne Pick 50 Pass
Likely to pass and hope to secure a Luke Ball, Daniel Bradshaw, Jesse Smith type in the PSD I think.

Richmond Pick 51 Dylan McNeil Onballer NSWMurray Bushrangers
The Tigers get another high quality onballer who is smart and very very brave. McNeil wins his own footy and uses it very well. McNeil is also a goal kicker and could be good value supporting Nahas in a forward line role. The Tigers want honest footballers who are accountable, skilled and won’t shirk the contest I reckon and they have got one here.

Fremantle Pick 52 Nicholas Winmar Utility WA
Winmar is a tall floating flanker/ winger who looks like he is always on cruise control. He smoothly moves around the ground and looks like he has more time than most. I see Winmar primarily playing off half back and wing and reminds me a little of Nathan Krakouer in the way he moves as well as his body type. Will need to get considerable stronger however there is definite talent here. I am not certain the Dockers will use this pick at this stage.

NM Pick 53 Myles Sewell Midfielder/ Utility Nth Ballarat (VFL)
Sewell has been a revelation this year and is one of those late bloomers that are often lost to the system. NM would have got a good first hand look at Sewell and I think will nab him here to get a stronger midfield body on the list. I could see him begin his AFL career as a negating tagger like his brother and try and develop his game from there. I think Sewell is the type of player Scott might try and cultivate at the roos.

Sydney Pick 54 Byron Sumner Midfielder SA
Quick and skilled small midfielder who reminds me a little of Chance Bateman in his skill and size. Sumner has lots of natural ability and can play in the guts, on the wings or as a small forward who can be really dangerous. Will add some flair to the Swans list.

Sydney Pick 55 Anthony Delborello Midfielder WA
Endurance athlete who is also quick enough Delborello has nothing too flashy about his game but does a lot of things right. I can see Delborello being an honest inside midfielder who unobtrusively as possible plays a fair amount of AFL footy in his career. A player who has slipped under the radar a little however there is sometimes players who suit a team’s games style well and I think this is the case with Sydney and Delborello.

Geelong Pick 56 Liam Patrick Utility Wanderers/ Northern Territory
An absolute wildcard of this draft this kid is being hyped a little like Caleb Mourish a couple of years prior. Patrick plays primarily as an undersized ruckman who also moves to a key position. I have watched a very small package of Patrick play and I would liken him to Daryl White. I wouldn’t normally place somewhere here who I have barely seen however the depth is really starting to thin out here.

Hawthorn Pick 57 Josh Donaldson Ruck/ Utility WA
Donaldson is a hard player for me to categorise. Not really tall enough to play ruck so where at AFL level can you place him? For mine I think he can develop a little like Cale Hooker at Essendon and be an athletic spring heeled defender who you may be able to develop. The hawks might need a little insurance in this type of position at Donaldson does have the AFL athleticism to pull it off.

Hawthorn Pick 58 Charlie Macadam Flanker Northern Territory
Silky smooth player who is very clean with the footy. Macadam primarily plays through the half back line and the midfield. I have no doubt about Macadam’s ability I just wonder about his application as he tends to be inconsistent in his defensive actions. However Charlie has a lot of talent and I think the hawks will take a risk on a player with a lot of skill around here.

Carlton Pick 59 Derrick Wanganeen Onballer SA
Carlton add some speed to their onball division while Essendon fans and Greg Williams cannot believe that there is a Wanganeen playing for Carlton-much chagrin! Wanganeen is lightning quick and able to break lines with his speed and his ability to dodge through traffic. Wanganeen’s small stature will be a hindrance however I think he has enough tricks to reach the next level.

St Kilda Pick 60 Sean Tighe Key Position Western
Tall defender who can also have an odd run in the ruck. I see him as a real chance to turn into a tall AFL defender. Super competitive who is athletically good enough. Tighe should also develop into a strong unit as he has a nice frame and his development has continued in an upwards direction. A nice replacement for the likes of Allen and Maguire.

Adelaide Pick 61 Pass
I think they may see who is available in December.

Collingwood Pick 62 Serhat Temel Key Position Calder
The best set of hands in the TAC this year the Turkish Delight started the year and finished the year in terrific form. Temel is primarily a full forward who can kick bags of goals. He began the year at CHB where I suspect the coaches were trying to teach young Serhat some defensive skills. Temel is quick enough in a straight line but his agility worries me slightly- he will need to work hard to develop AFL athleticism however he can definitely kick goals which is a trait that must still be highly coveted.

St Kilda Pick 63 Nathan Brown Forward Richmond
I have no inside information and thus this is speculative to the highest degree possible but I think it works! Brown is a skilled forward who can still be the ultimate opportunist and St Kilda is in their premiership window. They have recruited speed-Lovett and Peake and I have picked tall draftees so why not look for a dangerous foil for the forward 50? Stranger things have happened!!!!

WB Pick 64 Kane Tenace Midfield Geelong (AFL)
The Bulldogs might take a bit of a punt on some speed with this pick and Tenace certainly has that in bucketloads. There are questions on Tenace’s kicking and composure under pressure however the Bulldogs are another side in their premiership window and tenace could provide some depth to their list at the very least. Salary cap may be a constraint though I reckon Tenace will play for absolute minimum wage to try and get back on an AFL list.

Richmond Pick 67 Luke Macdonald Key Position Eastern
Big and strong key position forward who is worth a punt at AFL level. Macdonald is a mature aged TAC player who is physically more ready than most key position players to play against men. The big question on Luke is his athleticism and his resilience as he has a tendency to get injured rather frequently.

Brisbane Pick 76 Tom Hunter Midfield/ Utility Calder
Hard at it midfielder who tested very fast at state screening. Came from nowhere as the year developed and became more and more on AFL club’s radars. Hunter is a fierce competitor who will not give a quarter in any physical contest. A selection from left field however speed and grunt may appeal this late.

very good and well thought over draft, what are your reasons for long at pick 33, id expect essendon to pick vardy if available or even carey.

great read with good explanations :thumbsu:

For me i would rather: jetta at 7
stoked with sheppard at 22
Colyer or T Taylor at 23
Highly doubt colyer will slip to 48!! and i could be a bit biased as im a massive fan of taylor and colyer and nopt so big on christenson but i would much much rather either of them over christenson

really hope Bartlett falls to richmond with pick 35. and maybe go for a tall KPF with pick 35 if Bartlett isnt there or pick 44.

haha. I just think freo have their heart set on him. This phantom draft had good explanations of it though which I read after I posted that.

Well IMO he isn't worth our second round pick compared to other players that will still be on the table at that time so if they want him they should really just ride their luck and see if he is there in the third round. If that happens then there is the chance that what Foj1 has forecast might happen.

Good phantom draft BTW Foj1.

Great read - well done! Id be over the moon with Sheppard still there at our later picks :) As for pick 7... Im just gonna trust the recruiters coz theres a good 6 or 7 names Id be happy for them to read out, including Talia.

Is Christensen lightning fast? Unless woosh is bluffing, he's said last week that two picks will be best avail, but one pic definitely on a "lightning quick crumber"

While I wouldn't mind the mid taken with Richmonds picks, but given we delisted talls in Pattison, Putt, Hughes and Polak. Add to that the possibility that we still might end up losing Richo and I get the feeling that talls might be on the menu with our second & third round picks.

wow very good effort mate, and very well reasoned!

would be extremely happy with these picks form a WCE point of view. If we had the choice of Talia or Cunnington at 7 i would be stoked, sheppard at 22 would be a dream and maybe christensen at 23 could turn out to be good.

Again, great read:thumbsu:

Nice read mate... dont know whether Ess will go for Long with #33 though considering the calibre of players you had after him...

i would be stoked with Lucas at #10 and even the flashy Troy Taylor at #24

Would be Very Happy with Thomas and Temel as we would have our Inside Mid and Our Tall Forward.

Though I was suprised to see Vardy get to Pick 34 there, I would hope Pies take him at 30 if he falls

Good work, an entertaining and well supported take on the draft.
Very happy with the Blue Baggers results.
Black and Wanganeen have plenty of x factor and Luff is a solid choice.
Adresses a few deficiencies.
Would be happily as a clam with this outcome.
Ciao

I actually like this draft alot. I've been stressing over who we'd take at 7, cause I don't think we need Lucas, Jetta isn't good enough for 7 (IMO) and Tapscott has been called lazy. Our backline is fine with Glass, Mackenzie, Schofield and Brown, but the only ones really proven out of those is Glass and Brown, one is int he twilight years of their career and one prefers to play up forward. I would be pleased with Talia in this regard.

I would love for us to get Colyer, but I think Sheppard and Christensen are better players, so I would happily accept that. Well done.

Quite happy with that from a Port perspective, stoked in Cunnington @ 8 and im also a big fan of Melksham, just not sure i'd pick him ahead of Lucas. Panos is definately a look in at Port at 16 if we dont land Butcher, i agree re Carlise, they both would be prospect forwards but i think Panos is a little safer than Carlile although Carlilse could easily be the better forward. The fact he's an SA boy would probably help sway the recruiting staff too. Nice take, still hoping Butcher slides tho :)

Nice work Foj1, always look forward to your work.

From an Essendon perspective, I think the mix is just right. Two midfielders in Lucas and Bartlett, both with big up size, and two exciting young players who can contribute to our forward and back lines. Lots of risk there, but I think with the state of our list we don't need "filler", we need top class, and with our picks you probably need to take risks to get that.

I agree with what Ruthless Tiger said: Richmond desperately need talls!

I can live with selecting a midfielder at 19 if one too good to overlook comes up, but my expectation is that we'll pick the best talls we can with our 2nd and 3rd round picks and then just go best available for the remainder.

Richmond's tall stocks are diabolical (thanks Terry). It would be unthinkable to finish this year's draft with only one genuine tall, and that with our last pick.

Having said that, your player descriptions made a great read.
