The BigFooty Liverpool Army - Part 14

Ive heard about Maxi leaving, but only on loan. Why would we loan him out and lose squad depth. He is handy as a bench option and I wouldnt want to sell him considering our squad is already pretty thin.

As for Masch going, I dont want a player and money exchange. Just take the 30 million but then again as others have mentioned, is it guaranteed we will have the 30 million available to reinvest in the squad. The Yanks cant be trusted so bringing in a player in exchange holds some merit.

If the money were available, Id rather just take the money and spend either 10 on Banega or 10-15 on Defour. Then had 15-20 to upgrade in other areas, mainly another striker and LB.

I reckon your all aiming too high as far as a striker coming in goes. Aim much lower than that. Piquionne type scrub to warm the pine. Torres, Jovanovic, Kuyt, Pacheo with NGog on loan looks good to me, just lacking the big black man to hold the ball up when your hanging onto a lead. Talks of Santa Cruz etc are a bit melo dramatic. Just back Jovanovic in to succeed.

Jovanovic is a LW and I can't see him playing as a striker for us. Kuyt is the backup striker and our RW I would think.

He was a striker for Standard Liege hence his 50+ goals for the club.

He can play LW and effectively but youd be best served playing him upfront with J.Cole in the hole and 3 CMs behind him IMO

Re: The BigFooty Liverpool Army - Part 14

I am not technically gifted enough to quote the following post from the Part 13 thread.

Posted by Jod23 28th July 2010:

Again, speak for yourself. I dont hate Rafa, I think he did a terrific job under difficult circumstances. He made us an actual force again in Europe, made two CL finals and won one of them. Won the FA Cup and got us within 4 points or our first league title in a loooong time. He also brought some fantastic players to the club like Reina, Torres, Mascherano, Agger etc...

In the end he lost the dressing room and we had a poor season. But I will always have huge respect for Rafa and the way he turned things around for us. I think a lot of you people are quick to forget just what kind of mess he inherited from Houllier. The squad was dire and had no world class players in it outside of Carra, Stevie and an aging Sami Hyypia. I mean the squad had such great players like Biscan, Diouf, Diao, Traore and his strikeforce consisted of permacrock Cisse who he didnt even buy and Milan Baros.

What he did for LFC will never be forgotten and I hope given some time, a lot of supporters who seem to hate Rafa will realise what a great job he did for the club in a difficult time.

Bloody good post Jod. Too many have short memories.

Inter to offer 12.5 mil and Sulley muntari for Mascherano...
I hope we dont accept that!!!

We need to go like for like, and Mash was rated at 50 mil by rafa!!!!! He should atleast have to dish out 30 for him!!

And a backup/partner striker is def needed... someone to score at a minimum 10 goals for the season... and possibly a winger if maxi goes.. i like cole at RW and babel and Jova on the left but im not sure either can be counted on for a consistent season..

We are also being linked with Park chu young.. i hope not lol.. guy scored 14 goals in 67 games for manaco.... not what we need lol

I would slap Rafa in the face with that offer.

But I definitely think Inter should package a player in the offer so less money gets back to the c**t owners.

Straight swap for Balotelli? haha

Davide Santon being Italian would be reluctant to leave Italy IMO.

20m and Muntari is okay. I don't mind Sulley and he is only 26.

Just hope we get in excess of 25m for Masch and use it for Banega and a striker.

Would be shattered if we got 12mil + Muntari.

There is no need to be worried boys.

It is on our terms and we are talking about Rafa here.

If Aquilani is worth 20m then we will get 40 easily for monster masch

Any chance of luring Burdisso to England? Or does he want to stay in Italy.
