Ok, now what's going on? Last night I saw an ad on TV for a video of Port Power's win in the Ansett Cup. You guys keep telling me there's no club called Port Power. But the title was clearly written in large letters on the front of the video: PORT POWER. Personally I don't have a problem with that name, but PA1870 in particular is very sensitive about it.

Who is putting out the video?? Is it PAFC or channel 7???

Maybe that is just the marketing name of the video??? (and not the name of the team playing the game)

I guess it's a losing battle. We're going to have to live with it or have people telling us how precious we are if we complain. I can handle being called Port Power, we've been called worse.

Mud, I believe in time as the club moves further away from the Port Power thing it will continue to re enforce its position and name...

The main offenders are those that want to form a new identity for Port, the Non Port supporters that cant stand our 34 premierships, most magarey medallists, all Australians etc etc...they dont want us to be who we want to be...

That Mud is control...a form of violence and abuse...It is something imposed upon you that is not a part of your character by those that are envious of what you are.

Precious......? when was the last time you chanted ..Por Power, Por Power ,Por Power..at a Port Adelaide game...

Its Power for mine..and Crowa54 has tried the old baiting trick several times on me...but alas....it aint gonna get a response..unless it blatantly rude or abusive...

Its liker kids ..ignore them when they pick on you and they eventually stop..

PA1870

Go Port Adelaide !!! The Power [ formerly the Magpies }

Actually I agree with the Hack from the Addy.

The club's move away from Port Power...to The Power....has less to do with a shift back to recognising Port Adelaide as the club....and more to do with the opposite.

It is a commonly held view in the AFL that you cannot survive whilst being based on a limited geogrphic region (hence Kangaroos, Western Bulldogs etc).

Whilst we are called Port Power, then everyone (particulalry impressionable 7 year old boys and girls) would associate the club with Port Adelaide. Now ask a kid from Para Hills where they live. It will either be Para Hills, or more likely Adelaide. They have no association with Port Adelaide, and therefore faced with a choice of Adelaide or Port Adelaide, they will choose Adelaide most times.

Port in the AFL cannot survive by relying on the Magpies supporters (well most of them....how do you sleep at night Ant ?) and their families. It must appeal to a wider group. The move away from Port Power is a way to achieve this. The next step will be our official name being "The Power" ie PAFC playing as "The Power" aka North.

It is quite clever of the club to actually portray this as the opposite....a shift back towards Port Adelaide...but what I have described was highlighted in the review last year.
