Southern Dragons vs Roys FC
Southern Dragons have also been a pretty inconsistent side this season and it could be argued for the second season in succession. The Dragons had an okay start and like the Furies had a win, a loss and a draw after three matches. From there it was pretty smooth sailing for the club from Dragon Island, they won five of their next seven matches and after round 10 they were cruising in second, probably needing only one more win to make the finals. A fate would have it, the Dragons still need that win and have now dropped from a cosy second to outside the chase in fifth spot and now must beat the Roys in the final round to play finals. The equation is actually quite simple for the Dragons. With the way the final round has shaped up, a win will be enough for them to make due to sides above them in contention playing each other in round 14. A loss though will see miss finals for the second season in a row. This round really is cutthroat for them so they have all to play for.
The Roys have something to play for but for them it is not the finals race as they cannot make the top four this season. The Roys are playing to avoid the wooden spoon, something they narrowly avoided last season after some last-gasp wins at the end of the year. A win here for them will see them avoid the spoon once more and consign the Furies to the bottom place on the SFA ladder. If the Dragons were to defeat the Roys though, they could see themselves finish bottom, something which the club has tried hard to avoid for the past couple of seasons.
This game could go down to the wire. The Dragons are in ordinary form but have their season to play for whilst the Roys can’t play finals but don’t want that spoon in their trophy cabinet. Expect a close game down at Dragon Island.
