Howdy,

Had a look at training today. Nothing major to report except the following.

Cunnington is injured, whichwould explain his absence last week. Looks like a knee. Turned up to training carrying crutches and limping and later had a bandage applied. Went to the pools with Ross and Black.

Bastinac did running only and doesn't look right. Might explain his relatively poor performance in the time trials.

Dish is back on the field. Took part in some of the drills, other times kicked around with the Delaney boys and Mabon, who looks smaller than 200cm. Dish's presence in the f50 stood out in some drills.

Taz looks great on the track. His disposal, decision making and movement is excellent.

Atley is pretty quick. Looks the goods, as does Richo who is super agile.

Spirits were good out there. Plenty of laughs but there was no holding back with the competitive stuff.

Hopefully those injuries are only minor......better now than just before the start of the season
Basti didn't look too bad, just a little restricted.

Cunnington was hobbling a bit, so not sure how bad it is, however having crutches is not a good thing.

A few more observations:

H was doing some marking drills so his achillies is on the mend and Lower stayed in the gym I think. In all, four of the rehab group appear close to a return to full training.

Geez, Gav is a super kick. JZ still looks like he plods along a bit but his decision making is that good that he doesn't need to be quick.

That JJ guy is still about, so maybe he has been given a spot as an international rookie.

Lachie casually roosted one, no problem, from 55 into a strong wind. Nice kick.

Overall the skills were a little off but it was a little wet and quite windy out there.

Ben McKinley was applying heavy takles in the f50 in his role as a forward in certain drills.

Would JJ be a scholarship kid?

Would JJ be a scholarship kid?

Re the scholarship kids - after seeing training last week I went back to the tape and the kids there appeared to be Ryder Court and Joel McInerney.

McInerney looks 12, to be fair he's probably only 16 now. Court is a bit bigger.

They trained with each other the whole session so could not make any footy assessment. Have heard another scholarship player Ben McDonald was down at the club recently.

The club site doesn't have working links for the scholarship players for some reason so no way of knowing who's still on the list.

Based on Bryce's recent results you'd think the NSW kids might be ok, be good to see at least 1 kick on to the rookie list.

Gav is the best kick we have; his decision making and kicking under pressure hurts us.

We can only hope that Basti and Cunners will be right to start full training after the christmas break :thumbsu:
