Just reported on 91.3 SportFM that Voss is wanting our 1st round draft pick plus 2 players for Mitch Clark. He didn't mention which players though.

Interesting that Voss is going so public and so early with this stuff.

Well I can see why.. he wanted to give up Bradshaw (a gun at the time) and Rischitelli for Fevola. That was crazy. In the end he lost both and Henderson + a 1st rounder. So you can see where Voss gets his misguided logic.

He can have the first rounder (Palmer Compo) and two players in Crowley and Van Berlo.
 
I doubt for second that Voss believes he will get 2 players and a pick. I think he's realistically looking at a pick+player, but if he starts there, he'll just gets a pick alone. I think freo would give up a fringe player to get it done, just not someone they think will be there when they're a premiership shot. Just my opinion
 
He'll settle on a 1st rounder and a player and I reckon you guys will do it.

Ummmm he's not a category one player... Surely based on the GCS/GWS model he'd be a band 2/3. Would clubs trading for players use that as a way to determine trade value? i.e. if Clark signs for GWS you'll get a band 2 or 3 compo so here's our band 3 compo and a player to sweeten the deal.

I guess the issue is that we don't know who Lyon might see as not fitting into his game plan. We say Crowley, Lyon might say Mayne. Who knows.

If it's a half decent player, expect the pick to be 2nd round.
 
I would say your first pick + a quality (top 12) player would be about right, but then you need to ask yourselves are your really going to pay that for someone you don't really need, Clark didn't pick a great time to be heading to WA as a ruckman.

Sounds like he wants our compo pick, and has changed his stance from 'hard ball' to 'I just want a fair trade'. Sounds like he knows Clark's no chance of signing Vossy's contract offer.. if you ask me.

I'd take the compo pick off the table in this instance, maybe even the 1st rounder too if they really want 2 players. Truth be told i'd rather give them 2 players than our 1st rounder.
 
trade them MJ as a replacement ruck option, plus van berlo as a forward, and maybe a pick. we need the first round picks.

if vossy wants to be silly about it, we can respond in kind.

That is not 'fair' for a player out of contract.

My choice would be 2nd rounder (or compo) with a sweetner the likes of JVB.
 
If we traded Mayne (I certainly hope not) I would leave it at that. I wouldn't give anything else. Personally, i would give them pick 16 take it or leave it. Palmer was a pick 7 and we got pick 20 something in return. A lot of players lose value when traded.

Clark picked last year to do that, but Brisbane didn't agree. Last year we would have paid more as he was contracted, we didn't have Griffin, and Clark had not put in a pretty modest performance for 2011. Also last year WC had not drafted Darling or a third ruckman, so potentially would be in a bidding war scenario.

Brisbane deciding the would not trade him has dropped the price now imo.

I've thought all along that it would end up being pick 16, but if Vossy wants a player then he has to expect we will be downgrading the pick.

I still reckon we got in Clark's ear last year and told him we would trade for him when he was out of contract, so I think we set the price last year. We probably didn't expect to have a pick so early, though.

I think if we were being reasonable we would have to say that he is worth pick 16. He is only 23, a key position player and we will not have to wait for 3 to 5 years for the development from a big guy. why he is not worth more IMHO is because he has been an inconsistent performer, is out of contract, there are some question marks over his attitude and he probably hasn't lived up to his draft pick position as yet.
 
I was wondering why Ross was talking Crowley and MJ up the other day. Lets hope crazy vossy believes him.

You are as stupid as Vossy if you think that is about right.

A player in our top 12, plus a first round pick, for an out of contract player who has stipulated where he wants to be traded.

Second round or gtfo and into the pre season draft. I want to win premierships, not run a charity organisation.

Yeah not even I was thinking a top 12 player. More like a top 22-24 for me plus the pick would be adequate IMO. Hoping Mayne
