Re: Leigh Adams

This kid will be a star. Future captain of the club. He can kick the ball, reads the play INCREADIBLY well, and is not as slow as some suggest. Has the poise of a 100+ gamer, and looked a cut above the VFL level, playing for Tassie last season.

Re: 13. Leigh Adams Jan intra club

picked up some comments from other posters

Garlett, Wundke, Goldy and Adams were on the interchange. The first 2 never got on while I was there.

Patch made an immediate impact when he went on. Can find the footy
Adams was lively when he came on.

Intra club practice match c/o pykie

Adams: Got to admire the way this bloke plays his footy, and he has a seriously good football brain. Rode the pine for close to two quarters, but within 45 seconds of being on, I counted 4 touches. He played half a quarter on Hansen on the wing, and then rotated off of a HFF and the middle, he will be a very good player once he gets a bit older, and he is doing his apprenticeship at the moment in the side, so to speak. We really are blessed with a brilliant engine room at the moment.

trueroo-
I see him as similar to the Harris mould just a few years younger.I just don't see him as hff wich is where jyd seem to end up playing him .

jswag-

Davies and Adams seemed to get the most of it of the new guys.

ass coach daly-
Former Collingwood midfielder Ben Davies was another newcomer to win plenty of the ball, while second-year midfielder Leigh Adams was in-and-under throughout.

"He's another one that's lost a fair bit of weight over the summer and really worked hard and, as you've seen today, he can win a bit of the footy," said Daly of Adams.

Adams has gotta get some game time in '08. Has to. The kid is all gun.

Report from Werribee general manager Mark Penaluna

A young and inexperienced Werribee Tigers team played their opening Practice Game last Saturday @ Skilled Stadium Geelong.

It was not only their first Practice Game, but also, the inaugural time the Werribee players and North Melbourne Football Club players had “come together” to represent the Werribee Football Club.

The Tigers began very well kicking the initial 2 goals through first game player Michael Barlow and North Melbourne forward Nathan Thompson. The remainder of the quarter was won by Geelong, finding the lead by 3 points as quarter time.

The second quarter was very even, shining lights for the Tigers were new recruit Ben Sharp dominating across half back; Ben Davies picking up disposals as will and Leigh Adams damaging at stoppages

The third term was very similar with both back lines on top, although it was becoming increasingly apparent that Geelong would do well to quell the large frame of Nathan Thompson who had 4 goals to 3 quarter time. Others to show promise were local talents Ben Fletcher, Jarrod Mather and Jackson Sheringham. Werribee finished 4 points in arrears at 3 quarter time.

Werribee dominated the final quarter with Nathan Thompson kicking another 3 goals, and Michael Barlow 2 goals, leading the way. Werribee ultimately won running away by 39 points.

Werribee 15 14 104
Geelong 10 5 65

Best
Ben Sharp, Nathan Thompson, Ben Davies, Jarrod Mather, Jackson Sheringham, Leigh Adams

Goals
Nathan Thompson 7; Michael Barlow 4; Ben Warren 2; Ben Davies 1; Leigh Adams 1

Re: Werribee v Bendigo Bombers practice match

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are Ben Carbonaro's player reports as posted on TSK.

The Werribee Tigers played their first game at Bartercard Oval for 2008 and were greeted with warm weather, along with a small yet appreciative crowd including a number of Kangaroos members/supporters who were first time visitors to our ground.

Both teams played attacking football for the entire duration and it came down to the final minutes where the Tigers held on to win by just five points 13.12.90 to 13.7.85

Leigh Adams didn't play, not sure of the reason why but I saw him watching the game with McMahon and said a quick gday to him but he looked fine.

Maybe he was just resting?

James Wilsen will be suiting up for Werribee in our next practice match against Tasmania.

Had a chat with Obst after the game and he said James should be right to play against Tassie.

Leigh has an injured heel and up for a test this week

As everone is aware Leigh did a knee and is out for the season.

I think it was an ACL and had a graft from his hamstring used to replace the cartilage , screwed to the lower and pinned to the higher .

Same op that the Swans player had using the artificial cartilage and the Swans player will be available after 3 months .

Met him this week , real country boy hoping to stay on the list next year .

Comes from Worri Yallock via Eastern Rangers a bit shy but very open and not at all guarded .

He is looking to start some running soon and hopes to put on some upper body weight .

Really nice guy .

was good to see this bloke out on the park today. showed exactly why he is still here with a good work rate and good skills. was good in and around the stoppages with clean hands and strong tackling. moved well which will be pleasing as well.

I hope this bloke gets a good run of games this year, surely he is just as due for some good karma as JWS. I think if given the chance he will repay the faith and prove to be a solid investment for the club. Is a ball magnet with good footy smarts. If he can get himself a solid fitness base ready for the midfield, he could definitely suprise a few this season.

The pressure for spots in the senior side is already beginning to intensify for North Melbourne after impressive outings in VFL practice matches on the weekend from Daniel Harris, Ben Ross, Leigh Adams, Nathan Grima and Corey Jones.

The Werribee Tigers received a massive boost in the midfield with its North representatives racking up the possessions throughout the match. Harris (28), Ross (29) and Adams (27)
