The Arizona Flying Dutchmen?

Seriously, I'm getting strong Kenny Powers vibes of all this.

The best average punting distance in the NFL this season is 51.6 yards, with the longest punt 73 yards. Gav was averaging 69.5 in trials according to that article. It'll be interesting to see how he goes on game day.
According to Bennett and Rocca it's more about hand to foot timing so if Urquhart is averaging those sort of punts he's laughing.

This is Gav's perfect role. He has a freakish natural ability to get hang time on his punts.

5 second balls are the 'magic number' for hang time. I'm told the other day he had a set where he hit 8/10 over 5 seconds all on film.

Most guys training at Prokick have kicked 2-3 over 5 seconds in their life and are lucky to have 1 on film, some have never recorded a 5 second ball.

Will be in the NFL in no time.

He can really kick the s**t out of it.

And now, it doesn't have to go to anyone.

No, his punts were not averaging 69.5. That's his kickoffs. From the sound of things he was doing both.

If his punts were averaging 69.5 he'd be the all-time hall-of-fame leader.

"Just watch the film," Miller said. "Every kick, boom, every punt, sounds like a gunshot, and the ball disappears into the night. He averaged 69.5 a kick. He drains the ball out of the end zone on every kickoff. And he's an Australian Rules guy who loves contact.

For those of you who aren't American Football fans, a kick and a punt are two different things. Usually you have 1 seperate kicker and 1 seperate punter. IE Sav Rocca is currently the Punter for my favourite team the Washington Redskins (get on board, folks).

Sounds like Gav is doing BOTH kicking and punting for this new team.

Third post in a row...

The Pacific-West football league is about 4 levels down from the NFL, by the way.

Urquhart is playing in the equivalent of the top amateur football level below the VFL. Almost certainly would not be getting paid.

Think of it like this;

NFL
College
Arena football
A bunch of different regional leagues such as this

compared to

AFL
VFL/SANFL/WAFL etc
TAC/Juniors/Draft feeder leagues
Amateur Leagues

He'd be getting something. It's a "semi-pro" league, so it might only be living expenses (the equivalent of a college scholarship), but he's not doing it for love and country.

You can take College out of your rankings, it's amatuer and you have to be a student.

In terms of the skill level/prestige/popularity, College is the clear #2 behind the NFL, which is what I was inferring.
