Summary:
North Melbourne's second selection at pick 30 in the National Draft enjoyed a successful first season at North Melbourne despite not playing a senior game. 'Froggy' was assigned to VFL affiliate North Ballarat, and quickly entrenched himself a key player in that side. Dumont won 23 disposals in his first game against Collingwood, backing it up a week later against Essendon with 24 possessions. His form continued to grow, and as a result his name started to come into consideration for the senior team. 37 touches and six tackles against Casey in the middle of the season highlighted his growing importance despite still being a teenager.

Dumont, an inside midfielder, worked hard on his outside game to be more than a one-dimension player. It paid off in Round 17 against Coburg, winning 35 possessions, taking 10 marks, notching 10 inside 50's and booting three goals in a best on ground display. Despite the likes of fellow first year players Ben Brown and Kayne Turner earning debuts late in the season, Dumont could not quite break his way into the best 22 due to the strong form of Andrew Swallow, Levi Greenwood and co.

His first year on an AFL list ended on a sour note, however, when he was charged with aggrieved robbery in an incident in South Australia during the off-season. Dumont is on bail and is due to appear in court on November 25. If the charges are accurate, this is an extremely disappointing light that Dumont has showed himself in and goes against the hard work he put in all season to impress coaches, teammates and supporters. However, his influence in the VFL cannot be overshadowed, and with a gaping hole left in the midfield thanks to Levi Greenwood's departure, Dumont could be on track for an early-season debut.

After missing the previous VFL game for North Ballarat, Dumont returned strongly, turning in a best on ground performance.
