Review: Beau found his way back into the senior side after 3 weeks of solid performances at VFL level and was given the task of applying a forward tag on Johncock and then Petrenko after half time; limiting the output of both to great effect.

"Unsung Hawk Muston keen to seize his chance"

http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/96606/default.aspx

LANCE Franklin might have been showered with all the praise after Friday night’s win over Essendon but it was another Hawthorn forward who earned a special mention from coach Alastair Clarkson.

Beau Muston played a crucial role on Friday night as a defensive forward on rebounding defender Dustin Fletcher. Not only did Muston keep Fletcher relatively quiet but he also got away to kick three handy goals.

"Let Lance Franklin run free"

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/let-lance-franklin-run-free/story-e6frf9jf-1225881736366

HAWTHORN rolled the dice and came up trumps with Beau Muston tagging Essendon fullback Dustin Fletcher and reducing his influence on Friday night. The forward was given instructions to make the potentially destructive Fletcher accountable and help free Lance Franklin.
"It was a move we thought about previously and (we) had never actually initiated it on game day because it's just such an unusual type of move," coach Alastair Clarkson said.
"But it worked well for us."

"Sometimes, even pulling out all the stops can't prevent a fitful night"

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-ne...nt-prevent-a-fitful-night-20100707-100lr.html

The ball is flying around and it feels like a final. It even looks like a final, and there are stars everywhere. Beau Muston seems to be lost and is following me around when surely he should be following Gilbee or Hargrave. A mini game of human chess ensues. He seems to want to push and shove; I consider doing likewise, then remember I am a beanpole.
Best to get on the move. I drag Muston to where I think the ball will end up (usually Buddy and Brian), so he plays as a forward and tries to get it. We switch spots and I defend him, hoping to outpoint him and win the ball. It's hard to say, let alone execute.
At one point I grimace. Muston spots it, and cheekily asks how my knee is. I love the way he goes about it - a totally selfless player who appreciates the humour in irony; my knee pains must pale in comparison to the three reconstructions he's endured. We march on.

Beau has now spent the past 4 weeks playing with Box Hill putting in a number of consistent performances playing across half back and in a back pocket. It is no surprise that, given the consistency Beau has shown over the past 4 weeks with Box Hill, he is once again knocking on the door for senior selection.

Box Hill match reports for the past 4 weeks listed below:

Box Hill rnd 12 v Northern Bullants - http://bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=727230

Box Hill rnd 13 v Sandringham - http://bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=730713

Beau has continued his strong form in the VFL, providing plenty of run and carry over the past 3 weeks.
As always, match reports on how Beau has performed, as well as the rest of the team, can be found on the Box Hill forum.

Not sure why Beau was dropped from the Seniors thought he did his bit for the team. Seems other players have been given extra opportunities, after poor performances. Beau has the necessary height & just as much capabilities as several senior boys.

Hope he is given another go this year. We haven't seen anywhere near what I believe he can give to the Hawks, given the opportunity.

"Hawks may enter Hale chase"

http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/103521/default.aspx

He said the club was yet to make a firm decision on rookie-listed forward Carl Peterson, while the future of 2005 draftees Beau Muston and Beau Dowler may also be determined in the coming fortnight.

"Both have been with us for five years and were very talented youngsters," he said.

"They're players that have certainly had an apprenticeship with us and, similar to Carl, we haven't formed a decision on those [players].

"Both boys are coming out of contract and, at the moment, depending on what the activity is across trade week, that’s when we'll form an opinion going forward with both those boys."

"Where your club stands"

HAWTHORN
Trades confirmed:
David Hale (North Melbourne) and third-round draft selection (No.52) for Hawthorn's end-of-first-round compensation for losing Campbell Brown to Gold Coast, and a fourth-round draft selection (71).
On the table: The Hawks have indicated there has been minor interest in Rick Ladson, Beau Dowler and Beau Muston, but none of that trio appears to be heading anywhere.
Targets: With Rhan Hooper and possibly Carl Peterson moving on, the Hawks are keen to lure Josh Hill from Whitten Oval. The Dogs want a top-40 pick for the small forward, but the Hawks aren't going to pay that price. Chris Tarrant was targeted and the Hawks are still watching Collingwood and Fremantle's stalled talks with interest. List manager Chris Pelchen has stated the club is chasing another unnamed key defender.

"Hawks keen as Muston"

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/hawks-keen-as-muston/story-fn53khop-1225952724958

DELISTED Hawthorn utility Beau Muston is staying in Hawks territory, signing with Box Hill. Muston was drafted in 2005 but was cruelled by two knee reconstructions and had to wait until 2009 for his AFL debut.
He finished with 13 matches for Hawthorn.
"We're just delighted to get Beau on board," Box Hill football manager Dale Bleach said.
