This sounds like average recruiting to me. Why add to your strengths? Ok you could argue that you can then on-trade them.....but we have paid peanuts so that is not a good argument. Or maybe they just got given FAR TOO MANY picks by the fat bastard.

Both have immense talent and X-factor. Maybe backing one or both can transition into the midfield?

But it is also a product of the crazy depth GWS have.

As I've alluded too in a couple of threads; it was in GWS best interest to move on a number of mid-level players and part of getting Plowman was that we had to take the other three.

Love his attitude, take it on! Can't wait til we play Bitchmond... McAvaney " depth tap forward by Sumner as he collects his own ball, he bursts past Yarran, takes a bounce and side steps Houli, steadies and drills a team lifting goal from the pocket!.. Oh, wow, that's special!" "Yarran looked like he was a statue!"

Sumner got similar foot problem as Kreuzer but if we get him right will be the best of The lot

what is that problem? stress fractures?

guessing they may give him more time to get ready... as in maybe not round 1....

28 gets Plowman who can play, Lamb who is a 50/50, Phillips who is a spare ruck unable o push Mummy out..and an injured project player in Sumner...in my books 28 is < worth Plowman and the others are a bonus - and probably an upgrade on a few delisted players we had. Tomlinson would have been very handy addition - but he wont be any less handy in a year or two if he is still best available.

I feel for players who have had developmental years played out in injury - ala Sumner- however it may be the case that SOS was happy to take the chance - hopefully after a medical. Good to see a bloke with a nice turn of speed - we need it.

Love this guys attitude and the highlights I've seen make him out to be a gun.. Stats of previous years are underwhelming.. But I think given a really good mentor to help teach him where to run and a good injury free run, he could be the best of the gws 4.

Some guys just need time at AFL level to find their feet.

Buckley was always an average VFL player but seemed to step up when he strung a few AFL games together.

Contrary to what the common perception is, it's easier to get a kick at AFL level because there is a greater emphasis on structure, gameplay and creating space for players to lead into.

Might be the jolt Liam needs.
