I was writing my Div 2 preview for the Northerner in two weeks when I came across the amazing - yet very real - possibility of all three divisions scheduled to have 1st v 2nd and last v second last - at the same time! This will happen provided Heidelberg West beat Parkside next week whilst Div 1 and 2 have a break.
Division 1 - June 14
Greensborough (1st) V Heidelberg (2nd)
Whittlesea (10th) V Northcote Park (9th)
Division 2 - June 14
North Heidelberg (1st) V Mernda (2nd)
Hurstbridge (7th) V Diamond Creek (8th)
Division 3 - June 14
Thomastown (1st) V Reservoir (2nd)
St Mary's (6th) V Parkside (7th)
Quite simply a potentially extraordinary round of matches set to occur. I believe this would be the second time that 1st v 2nd has occurred in all three divisions at the same time (Round 7, 2010 was the other time) but I don't think last v second last has happened before, and I'm 100% certain this would be the first time 1st v 2nd and last v second last has happened in all three divisions at the same time. Very very rare happening and a statistician's wet dream.
