20 Years - Allan & Pavlich Media Conference

It probably worked out for the best for him - a few more years of the mediocrity we were displaying and he would have become unemployable even as an assistant.

Despite the entire football world parroting how hard done by he was, the fact no club has approached him to become their head coach since speaks volumes.
Coaches are employed as much on perception as they are ability. The fact James Hird, Voss et al were employed based on their playing credentials speaks volumes about the decisions the average AFL club makes with regards to who they appoint.

Sacked coaches are just about unemployable unless they've won a premiership.

Great interview with Harves on 882 last night. He was in doing his usual Wednesday night spot with Karl Langdon and Karl asked him as to why he refused to participate in the book.

Harves said that he didn't refuse to participate at all, even though Les Everett rang him just 3 months after he was sacked to do an interview for the book, and he was still a bit bitter about the whole thing at the time.

But Harves said that he was in the process of moving to Brisbane and didn't have the time to do the interview then, plus he was also caught up in the inquest surrounding the young girl drowning in his pool in back Melbourne.

He said that Les had the opportunity of interviewing him later on for the book, but Harves sad that he never got the call.

Harves also talked openly about his time at the club and he had nothing bad to say about the club at all. He acknowledged that it was a business decision at the time and he has now moved on.

The media do like to talk things up though.

Sounds like i was giving harvey a bad wrap. Fair enough if it was a couple of months later. But adults get over these things in business. Sounds like Harvs has done that so kudos to him.

Harves was asked about the two best players that he had ever had the privilege to coach, to which he replied Pav and Sandi. A Geelong supporter then rang in and told Harves that he got what he deserved from Freo dumping him. The guy obviously hates Essendon for some reason.

Probably still unable to get over that Solomon/Ling incident and how he got Crowley, J Carr etc to play his side.
