This is a look back at players born in 1982 that at least played one game at AFL level
It does not mean they were part of the draft pool in the year of actual 2000 but it does mean that under current AFL conditions since 2009 all the eligible types that turned 18 in that year of 2000 are included if they made their debut at some point.

I did a series of retrospective draft pools last year that I posted here starting with players turning 18 during the year 1975 and each subsequent year the next batch of 18 year olds. This is just a fun task to look back in the time that I been watching football in this league and wondering the quality of players that can be found retrospectively, as if drafts were done the same as they've been done since 2009, which is to have no players younger than 18 at end of that year able to be drafted.

Most of us would have watched football from this period, so feel free to add your own thoughts on players you felt would have been number 1 in the 2000 retro-draft and the following years.

This retro draft of players born in 1982 for a retro-draft of 2000 has quite a few players still going around that probably rightly have great claims to the number one pick in hindsight. Sam Mitchell and Shaun Burgoyne have matured well like a fine wine and probably played their best footy around or past 30 years of age with a lot of premiership glory in that time. Guys like Nick Riewoldt and Robert Murphy were quick to have an impact at AFL level at a younger age. That contrast in when a players career has it's peak should make for an interesting poll result to see how this plays out over next week and a bit that the poll is open.

Here is the retrospective draft pool of 18 year olds in year 2000:

Pretty sure Didak was taken at pick 3 in this draft, not the previous year.

1: Riewoldt
2: Kosi
3: Didak

Also, pretty sure Josh Fraser was in the 99 draft.

Didak was born in 1983, not 1982.
Fraser WAS born in 1982.

Seems like you did not read the intent here...

Here is the retrospective draft pool of 18 year olds in year 2000:

You will find Didak in the 2001 version of this series as that is the year he would have been turning 18.
They only started restricting the draft pool to those turning 18 or older from 2009. Hence why I am looking back at each year as if they had done that for past 4 decades.....
