Was reading Richmond board about Townsend and they said he won the B&F in our TAC Cup year?

Anyway found this thread and had a look. Interesting to see that Daniel Lloyd had already been a part of the club.

And Will Langford? Geez I wish we had access to him first.

Well, not according to this news article ...

FORMER Glenelg midfielder Alex Carey has won Greater Western Sydney's inaugural best-and-fairest award but is yet to secure a spot on its AFL list for 2012.

Carey captained the AFL's 18th franchise in the TAC Cup this season and won the club champion award despite missing the final four games with a hip injury.

Good find! I didn't think I ever heard about Townsend winning a B&F.

Could it have been in the 2011 NEAFL year? I can't find any named B&F. Club website doesn't show a North East AFL player of the year in the 2011 standalone year, and only has a NEAFL B&F starting in 2013.

Elsewhere I can find the 2011 North Eastern Conference Team of the Year, which had Shiel, Jezza, Jack Hombsch & Jon Giles in it. No Townsend.

It does show that Jacob won the 2012 Coaches Award.

It talks about "not being in the AFL list for next year" so sounds more like a 2011 NEAFL award.

I liked young Carey. He gave my son a footy after one of the NEAFL games and had a devoted fan for the rest of the season.

Could be this - an article from a couple of months ago on the Richmond website says he was runner up in the first GWS (TAC Cup) B&F, so runner up to Carey. http://m.richmondfc.com.au/news/2015-11-10/draft-flashbacks-jacob-townsend

Well spotted there, Scully2Folau. Although it still means that the Tigers Board comments are a little off base, in that (1) he didn't win the B&F award and (2) it wasn't in front of Treloar & Shiel, who obviously weren't there during the 2010 TAC Cup year.

It doesn't really matter; I wish Jacob all the best at Richmond and I'm happy that Tigers fans are a bit excited over his arrival.

I want Townsend to go on and be a 200 gamer for them, but I don't think he'll be quite as good for them as Snipper was/is.
