The Competition:-
Of the listed players below, predict what number they'll be chosen in the draft.

To determine the winner, see the following example:

draft.jpg

Whoever has the LOWEST Difference Total will be the winner.

If any player goes undrafted, they'll count as one pick past Mr Irrelevant. For 2011, Mr Irrelevant is #254. So "undrafted" would mean 255.

If there is a tie, a tie-break process will determine the placings. It will be based on most exact tips, and closest tips, etc.

The NFL Draft begins April 29th around 09:00 (AEST), so I'll be accepting selections until 23:59 April 28th (AEST). Post your selections in this thread and edit it as many times as you want, but on the date and time I just mentioned I will lock the thread to gather official entries.

WINNERS PRIZE: 1 year BFSC membership (pending Chief's approval again).

I only wanted Austin Pettis in it hence why I asked to pick, to ensure he was there.
But that's a good list. Great to see
Kaepernick there, I would of put him in, in a heartbeat, but I only wanted 1 player coming from the WAC, so sacrificed him for some other random when I sent you the pm with who I wanted.

lol - I just realised the 2nd names are the ones I picked. I must of put Colin in to try and avoid it looking pro-db, so had a player from the team that beat Boise, to make up for having a Boise player.

So if we think a player won't get drafted, do we put down #254 or something else???
Yeah, you give them #254 as the last pick is #253 (there are normally 256 picks but there are 3 forfeited picks this year - 2 were used in last years Supplemental Draft and the Lions forfeited their 7th rounder for tampering if players contracted to other teams)

A. QB - Ryan Mallett - Arkansas -> #41 Washington Redskins
A. QB - Colin Kaepernick - Nevada -> #43 Minnesota Vikings
--
B. HB - Shane Vereen - California -> #96 Green Bay Packers

--

--
J. ST - Chas Henry (P) - Florida -> #255 Undrafted
J. ST - Alex Henery (K) - Nebraska -> #255 Undrafted

Like last year, you didn't put enough true first rounders in there. ;) Peterson is the only legit first rounder ... would have preferred if you put a couple more in instead of a few of the scrubbers. Especially considering how studly the defensive prospects are.

The Players:-

A. QB - Ryan Mallett - Arkansas - Raiders to nab him with their 2nd round pick - #48
A. QB - Colin Kaepernick - Nevada - Titans to swoop in and get him early 2nd - #39
--
B. HB - Shane Vereen - California - Falcons to see a skillfull speed back, and nab him now, so we have a ready made replacement when Turner crashes (will be in the next 2 seasons) Also adds much needed speed out of the backfield - #59
B. HB - Daniel Thomas - Kansas State - Texans to try and add depth in the 3rd round - #73
--
C. FB - Owen Marecic - Stanford - Jaguars to trade up and get him early 4th round - #103
C. FB - Stanley Havili - USC - Falcons to get him with their 6th round pick aquired via Philly and Tampa - #184
--
D. WR - Jonathan Baldwin - Pittsburgh - Falcons, lol, I'm loving how you've got stuff that would suit us, and at the right time too :p - #27
D. WR - Austin Pettis - Boise State - Colts, I'm thinking 3rd-4th, but I think Indy (who I see him going to) will pass on him in the 3rd round, that Detroit might go for twin towers out wide, or the Rams might go for that physical receiver to help out Bradford. **** it, Indy to get him in the 4th round - #119
--
E. TE - Virgil Green - Nevada - Giants, I can't name their current tightend, so I'm guessing that sign of ignorance might mean they need a Tight End, and if they want to copy the boring offensive scheme of the Packers and Patriots, a Tight End would be good - #117
E. TE - Kyle Rudolph - Notre Dame
- Bills, get Cam Newton something to throw at in the 2nd round. Ok, he might not be a wide out, but a tight end is better than nothing - #34
--
F. OL - Zane Taylor (C) - Utah - Cardinals, I have no idea to be honest, so I'm just letting the Cards have him in the 6th - #141
F. OL - Anthony Costanzo (OT) - Boston College - Lions, with Stafford turning into what I beleive the next Hasselback (good-very good, always injured) they need all the help in protecting him as possible! #13
--
G. LB - Cobrani Mixon (ILB) - Kent State - Undrafted, I can't even find his name in a list of prospects on the site I'm using to give me a general idea of where people are looking like going. - #254
G. LB - Greg Jones (ILB) - Michigan State - Patriots, they don't need it, but they have very little needs right now, and by the time the 3rd round comes, they'll probably just be going best available (or trading down to get picks in the future) so I guess they'll get depth - #74
--
H. DL - Ugo Chinasa (DE) - Oklahoma State - Rams to improve pass rush in 4th - #113
H. DL - Kenrick Ellis (NT) - Hampton - Patriots, IIRC their depth on DL was tested last season, lets improve it - #60
--
I. DB - Patrick Peterson (CB) - LSU - Browns, he's good enough to be #2, but I beleive the the top 4 will all look elsewhere, Arizona might have a look, but pass in favour of another need - #6
I. DB - Ras-I Dowling (CB) - Virginia - Broncos to add depth and pretty good speed to it's secondary early in the 3rd - #67
--
J. ST - Chas Henry (P) - Florida - Undrafted, if only he could kick it an extra 5 yards on average, and he'd be NFL standard. #254
J. ST - Alex Henery (K) - Nebraska - Broncos, I question his leg strength, but IIRC, kicks travel further the higher the altitude, Chiefs have Succop, 30 teams would doubt if he can kick long field goals at their home games, so Denver who have Hauschka to nab him - #205

GG's initial list was great, a lot of players that can be picked anywhere from round one, two, three or fall to four. However with 20 names to predict, it's just too much for me.

Although next year I propose just doing the top ten QBs from the draft as the draft competition. A lot easier to research and a lot more fun to predict.

Kevin Boss, the Giants starting TE. Was considered a top 12 TE at the start of last season for fantasy football. Didn't have a major improvment in 2010 but is still young enough to improve in 2011.

It's just a sign of ignorance, not highlighting a massive need,

D. WR - Jonathan Baldwin - Pittsburgh - Falcons, lol, I'm loving how you've got stuff that would suit us, and at the right time too :p - #27
Will not happen. I can basically guarantee that. You of all people on BF should know that Dimitroff doesnt draft people with any sort of character concerns

I didn't know he had character concerns.
We wont be going WR in the first then.
Wouldn't be suprised if we trade up and try and nab Prince Akamura (or however it's spelt) now.

WR, TE, CB and OLB are the big urgent needs for Atlanta right now, (and a project RB wouldn't be too bad either)

Yeah, eh, cbf redoing it right now, but I think he might drop about 20 spots or so due to the character concerns

A. QB - Ryan Mallett – Arkansas – Pick #25 Seattle
A. QB - Colin Kaepernick – Nevada – Pick #39 Tennessee

--
B. HB - Shane Vereen – California – Pick #64 Green Bay
B. HB - Daniel Thomas - Kansas State – Pick # 87 Indianapollis
--
C. FB - Owen Marecic – Stanford – Pick #107 San Franciso 49ers (was very good, played both sides of the ball smart guy, old coach will want him )
C. FB - Stanley Havili – USC – Pick #178, Houston (just roughly where I think he’ll go)
--
D. WR - Jonathan Baldwin – Pittsburgh – Pick #47 Rams (think he may go a little higher maybe #33 if NE don’t trade it, and no RB there)
D. WR - Austin Pettis - Boise State – Pick #130 Titans
--
E. TE - Virgil Green – Nevada - Pick #124 Atlanta (think falcons will want a TE just not sure where they'll draft)
E. TE - Kyle Rudolph - Notre Dame – Pick #36 Denver
--
F. OL - Zane Taylor (C) – Utah – Pick #188 Denver
F. OL - Anthony Costanzo (OT) - Boston College – Pick #13 Lions (think he will go here or one up, one down)
--
G. LB - Cobrani Mixon (ILB) - Kent State – Pick #254 Texans
G. LB - Greg Jones (ILB) - Michigan State – Pick #52 NYG If they don’t draft one first round I’d say they draft Jones here)
--
H. DL - Ugo Chinasa (DE) - Oklahoma State – Pick #159 (think he could easily go to 6th, wild card, Pats grab him as a project, no real idea where)
H. DL - Kenrick Ellis (NT) – Hampton – Pick #83 Giants (this is difficult, character problems make it so hard)
--
I. DB - Patrick Peterson (CB) – LSU – Pick #2 Denver
I. DB - Ras-I Dowling (CB) – Virginia – Pick #74, NE (Thought he was good for Green Bay at 64 but already done that pick, Minnesota would have taken him here I think, Instead NE does (if they don’t take McElroy, but hope we get him later in the draft))
--
J. ST - Chas Henry (P) – Florida – Pick #255 (Get ausies instead ;) )
J. ST - Alex Henery (K) – Nebraska – Pick #173 Seattle (Good prospect)

Just hoping to not come last.

A. QB - Ryan Mallett - Arkansas - #39
A. QB - Colin Kaepernick - Nevada - #105
--
B. HB - Shane Vereen - California - #70
B. HB - Daniel Thomas - Kansas State - #87
--
C. FB - Owen Marecic - Stanford - #135
C. FB - Stanley Havili - USC - #91
--
D. WR - Jonathan Baldwin - Pittsburgh - #40
D. WR - Austin Pettis - Boise State - #61
--
E. TE - Virgil Green - Nevada - #231
E. TE - Kyle Rudolph - Notre Dame - #32
--
F. OL - Zane Taylor (C) - Utah - #245
F. OL - Anthony Costanzo (OT) - Boston College - #27
--
G. LB - Cobrani Mixon (ILB) - Kent State - #255
G. LB - Greg Jones (ILB) - Michigan State - #100
--
H. DL - Ugo Chinasa (DE) - Oklahoma State - #211
H. DL - Kenrick Ellis (NT) - Hampton - #80
--
I. DB - Patrick Peterson (CB) - LSU - #5
I. DB - Ras-I Dowling (CB) - Virginia - #116
--
J. ST - Chas Henry (P) - Florida - #185
J. ST - Alex Henery (K) - Nebraska - #173

QB - Ryan Mallett – Arkansas - # 41, I actually like him to go to Seattle but cutting my loss here if he is ignored.
QB - Colin Kaepernick – Nevada - # 43, banking on the QB crazy lasting til the second round and maxing out.
--
HB - Shane Vereen – California - # 111, Bit harsh on him, but banking on Miami ignoring Ingram early on and opting for a fast runner out of the backfield, getting a FA like McGahee to be the accompanying power back. Betting I’ll be off by about 30 picks but you play to win the game ;)

B. HB - Daniel Thomas - Kansas State - #66, Another hedge bet, Cincy, Green Bay, Philly, KC, Atlanta all nearby who are looking for long term power back types.
-
C. FB - Owen Marecic – Stanford - # 141, Harby goes with his boy.
C. FB - Stanley Havili – USC - # 171, Another hedge between a few teams
--
D. WR - Jonathan Baldwin – Pittsburgh - # 50, San Diego is going to go WR here, and again, a few other teams looking for WRs around.
D. WR - Austin Pettis - Boise State - #97, too early for him, but by all accounts the Bears really like him and are going to pull the trigger one round too early.

--
E. TE - Virgil Green – Nevada - # 113, rrreeaaacccchhhh
E. TE - Kyle Rudolph - Notre Dame - # 27, What sort of draft would this be without a first round TE?! Atlanta only obvious choice.

--
F. OL - Zane Taylor (C) – Utah - #245, Not a lot of need for C this year, especially depth wise.
F. OL - Anthony Costanzo (OT) - Boston College - #15 hedge bet, Will go to Giants though. Make it happen yo. Wouldn’t mind Ingram saying that. ;)
--
G. LB - Cobrani Mixon (ILB) - Kent State - #255
G. LB - Greg Jones (ILB) - Michigan State - #90, Doesn’t really suit Balty but hedging.
--
H. DL - Ugo Chinasa (DE) - Oklahoma State - #167
H. DL - Kenrick Ellis (NT) – Hampton - #92, Pats need a DT and Caro only a few picks after
--
I. DB - Patrick Peterson (CB) – LSU - # 5
I. DB - Ras-I Dowling (CB) – Virginia - #49, I like him to go earlier but no one else has him quite so low so may as well curb the risk/reward.
--
J. ST - Chas Henry (P) – Florida - #250
J. ST - Alex Henery (K) – Nebraska - #200
