So basically, this list includes anyone who is under 180cm.

Probably not a huge deal of surprise selections really. Good to see both Neade and particularly Stokes getting some attention. DeLuca would have to be the early favourite to take out the skin folds category. :p

Hard to say if anyone has been 'unfairly' overlooked at this stage. With heights often being incorrect, they could easily end up slipping into the 'medium' category. But off the top of my head, I'd have three as being genuinely unlucky so far - Nick Amato, Emmanuel Irra and Sam Heavyside. While there are some others who possibly should have gotten a state screening invite (in my opinion at least).

Word round the campfire AFL have tightened invite criteria.

So the mock draft has three Dandenong kids who didn't get invites?

The above info is not quite right...

5 stingrays got combine invites, 7 got state screening. All of the Dandenong kids who were in the mock draft got an invite to one or the other!

State Screenings

Victoria

Anthony Bonaddio, Andrew Galucci, Sean Hetherington, Brady Jones, Sam Martyn, Mark Walsh, Harry O'Meara, Kenny Ong, Nick Rippon, Anthony Tipungwuti, Jordan Williams

South Australia

Todd McKay, Ben Rioli

Western Australia

Brayden Antoniio, Dylan Clarke, Shaq McKenzie, Shane Nelson

I don't quite understand the state screenings because there are some kids like Shane Nelson who wasn't drafted last year..

I can see nelsons career ending up like blackwells. He'll always be there performing but people just won't draft him. I like most were gob-smacked when he wasn't drafted last year.

Blackwell was drafted and didn't make the grade at AFL, victim of the F/S rule that has now been fixed with the addition of rookie F/S selections.

Guys like Nelson and Antonio should get a crack.

Lee was listed for a single year with Adelaide, he's grown 2-3cm since he was drafted three years ago and he's still 21 years old.

Blackwell is a small midfielder lacking any real acceleration, he's nearing 26 years of age and spent four years at Carlton.

Nelson and Antonio have something that Blackwell is missing and that's pace. They aren't undersized pack horses like him and they are 18 and 19 respectively.

Seem like three very different scenarios to me.

And just in case you needed any further proof as to how small the pool of ruckmen is this year, there it is.

Two WA ruckmen were picked for the Combine - both mature aged. Myles Bolger was overlooked last year, and has barely played this season due to injury. And I'm pretty sure one of the main reasons he was overlooked, was because of his injury history. And Cameron Symonds has been overlooked in the previous two drafts.

Few names missing.

Lowrie not getting a look in at the national combine while Ramsay manages a spot gives you a fair indication of where he sits in the pecking order.

Ramsay has pace, but nothing else.

Jack Byron-Prendergast would be a cool selection.

He's not big enough, and he has a torn ACL.

Not tall enough? Of course he's tall enough. He's already up around the 197cm mark and still growing and can leap twice as high as any competitor in colts footy. But yes, the injury is a concern. He's back in action this week against East Perth, so we'll see if he's made a full recovery. Hopefully he isn't rushing things.

He's tall, mobile and there's a massive hole in terms of tall options.

Pity he has feet like Travis Gaspar.
