CARLTON has denied former Bomber Kyle Reimers is training with the club, despite his name appearing on the updated 'permission to train' list

Reimers name appeared on the AFL's latest list on Tuesday afternoon.

Reimers manager Alex McDonald confirmed the player was not training with Carlton and an AFL spokesman said he would look into the matter.

This is exactly how I felt when I heard the 'news'.

"Crucifixion is a really negative way to kill yourself man, I've tried it before loads of times, there's no way you can hammer in the last nail."

Back up plan to the back up plans back up plan is where he should be.
Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhhh
Last resort backup plan...

Why would we even need Reimers? He hasnt kicked enough goals as a small forward to even play a serious part in our forward line. Seriously... that article has to be a ******* joke...

Having a quick little look @ Reimers' twitter account and seems he is going home to WA soon.

Could possibly mean he is not on our radar?

Guess we'll have to wait & see next week.

Yeah, nah. We missed the boat on that one. Collingwood were the obvious contender in need of a ruck and they instead are going with a 34yo in Ben Hudson. So it turns out Warnock is worth less than the pick 18 at which many thought Grundy was a bargain.

The ruck rule changes will make Warnock a most valuable player. As a pure ruckman he is our number 1 man. IMO Kruezer is going to have to improve as a key position player if he is to get significant game time.

I don't think the rule changes will do as much for Warnock as some seem to suggest. In fact I think it probably helps Hampson more than Warnock.

Warnock was already good in the ruck, in fact I'd go as far as to say he's our best pure tap ruckman. However when considering the whole package, inclusive of ruck work and ability to impact around the ground, both Kreuzer and Hampson leave Warnock for dead. The new ruck rules won't change that.

The only thing that will change for Warnock is that he can no longer be easily pushed out of position in ruck contests so he can use his height to advantage. That's a plus for him for sure but it remains important that ruckmen can have an impact around the ground and even forward, which Warnock simply cannot.

The no-contact rule may help him slightly but all things considered he remains, in my mind at least, the clear 3rd choice ruckman at the club.

Also if the interchange rule does come in his value could decrease due to his lack of presence onfield outside of ruck contests. Rucks will need to be able to rest forward. Not sure how Warnock will fare once that occurs.

Your opinion of Warnock is balanced and, in the main, does not differ much from my own. We both think he is our best tap ruckman and we both agree his around the ground work is not at the level of K or H. My approach is a simple one. A footballer might be a great mark and a big body but if he cannot beat his man in a 1 on 1 contest he cannot play as a backman (i.e. Thornton). So for a defender, the first requirement is that he can consistently spoil his direct opponent (like McInnes can (could) but White can't).

Warnock proved himself in 2011. He played very well in the big games, particularly against Geelong (which we lost because he was knocked unconscious) and Ess and WC in the finals - on his own. Warnock does the first thing required of a ruckman - he beats his opponent to the ball in the ruck contest more often than K or H. Thus he is our first ruck (IMO). Around the ground, meh, what are midfielders for?

We know he can ruck, in that sense he has proved himself a number of times over the past couple of seasons. But what he's not shown is that he can contribute in other areas and ultimately the game is heading down a path where ruckmen who can't do much else are no longer particularly valuable.

Going back a few years you could afford to carry a 'specialist ruck' but I think the game has well and truly gone beyond that now. So we can't just simply dismiss the lack of impact around the ground as it is now quite important and can put us at a pretty serious disadvantage on gameday. He simply has to find another string to his bow otherwise I can't see him getting past Hampson or Kreuzer who have both showed that they can contribute in positions other than the ruck. Warnock's not our first ruckman, because of those deficiencies and he won't be until he's shown an ability to impact the game like the other two, and I'm not sure he'll get there.

He didn't have a huge impact in the Geelong game outside of the ruck contests, the contested mark at the end of the game was his only mark for the match. He was good in the finals series, I'll certainly give him that but he was monstered against the Eagles. The only game I can remember walking away from thinking that he could have a serious impact around the ground was after the final in Sydney when he had a huge impact out of the goalsquare - but he hasn't looked like getting near backing that up.

Versatile ruckmen go forward and kick goals.

Warnock sits on the bench for 5 minutes a quarter. With a 3-man interchange, clubs expect more.

IMO Kruezer is going to have to improve as a key position player if he is to get significant game time.

Kreuzer has shown more as a KPP than Warnock ever will. I can't recall a single time (perhaps 1 game returning from injury) that Kreuzer played in the VFL - which is what you're suggesting.

Small forward??

Heard rumour that Carlton officials spotted at Essendon training.

Looking at.......?

My guess - Garlett. (or maybe Colqhuon)

Colquhuon officially back in Adelaide with Port confirming they will take him in PSD.
