Yeah i agree, I wish we were able to grab another pick in the teens. From the rumours swirling around about upgrading picks seems the club was keen so i think they may have wanted a kid like Macrae at 9 and garner or vlastuin at 13-15.

I should add that that's not how I rate them but where I think they'd go and putting little pieces together like Dees obviously keen on Wines, Dogs want O'Rourke/Macrae (must be just one of them rather than both as it sounds they are keen on Stringer) Mayes to Port I think is a certainty if there. Brissy want O'Rourke or Plowman I believe but could go Shaw if they are gone.
On talent alone (added Macrae in as I believe he'll be at our pick):
Menzel
Garlett
Mayes/Macrae
Garner
Vlastuin
So it sounds like you think Menzel and Garlett are more talented than Mayes/Macrae an on talent you'd pick them but for their reasons (injuries/off field issues) are more risky prospects, and as such as less likely to be picked at 9?
If so, would you take the risk of Menzel/Garlett, or go for the more solid prospect in Macrae (assuming Mayes goes to Port)?
Secondly, lets say the giants for some reason accept 9 + player for 12 + 14, do you think something like Garner and Vlastuin would be better than better talents in Menzel/Garlett/Macrae? Quantity versus quality?
Lastly you said Stringer is not in your top 8, would you be happy to take him at 9? Is his exclusion of your top eight merely just where you think he'd go, not so much that you don't rate him as a top 8 prospect?

We could end up with Plowman you know which wouldn't be the worst thing in the world as he would be a lovely 3rd/4th back and really bolster our defense.
If we got him we could end up with the strongest defense in the league. Tyson next season

Also make getting Edwards more sense and letting McGuane go as Martins etc.. more prominent roles in midfield as opposed to forward lines and defense a lot stronger

Spot on with the first part. 100% spot on I think Menzel and Garlett are freak talents but are a risk. At 9 I'd consider both. Probably go Macrae though as he still has that bit of x-factor without the risk involved.
If we had 12 & 14 I'd take Vlastuin as the solid citizen and one of Garlett/Menzel because we can afford to take the punt.
Pretty sure I'm not alone here but I don't really rate Stringer. He got some impressive stats upon coming back from injury but he was 10 times the size of the kids he was playing on. He's also a pretty ordinary kick IMO and from what I've heard from a few on here he's a shit bloke. So of our 3 pillars of recruiting, he fits one. (competitiveness)
I know Richmond are trying to select decent guys but do you think Garlett has turned it around? The words from him indicate he's started to realise that afl clubs wouldn't tolerate his behavior.
The two picks idea sounds too good to be true, and with little noise about this, it probably is IMO.
It sounds like Stringer is, like Shaw, possibly Hrovat and Simpson maybe? The most polarizing figure in the draft. I know Chris25 loves him.
Would you be willing to draft Plowman? Doesn't really fill a need but may be best available.

Wouldn't have a clue. All reports say he has been doing a good job of turning it around.
Definitely won't happen. 12 & 29 would be at least somewhat realistic.
I'd take Plowman if best available. Won't get past Lions from what I've heard. Think he could become a big midfielder anyway.

He does for me, our 4th backman is very much open to the jury and many of our shorter backs can play 5th, 6th backs etc.. or go into the midfield. Our 3rd backman can get injuried as well so gives us great fleibility which we do not have for some positions in the backline

I know a guy that is at school with Macrae and Macrae has told him that he thinks he will go to Melbourne or Richmond FWIW

I think Garlett and Menzel are too talented not to have a crack at with at least one of the picks, and i think 9 is overs for Vlaustin... ala 6 for Conca. Unfortunately, dont see it happening though

I wonder whether we can get 7 off PA. I mean, if they want Menzel, they can afford a downgrade. Also, Hinkley said that they are looking for a KPD. I understand that they got Hombsch, but he is still on 85kgs, he is not ready for AFL yet. Post has a pretty large figure and I could see him flourishing in Port.

Well it's a question of would you prefer an elite player or two very good players.
**Not saying that Tyson is elite, just by respective draft positions. Tyson has way more talent than anyone that we could take at 12/14.

Its would be a hard choice but if we could get Vlaustin and Stringer I would choice them over Tyson. Since Stringer has the potential to be elite and Vlaustin will be a very good player
Well Vlastuin looks like he will be avery solid player at AFL level, but would you take the risk on a player who is still limping?
Stringer won't last till 12. A more likely scenario would be Vlastuin and Garlett, which would be magnificent
