I've had that problem when picking my team like a week in advance, but when it's only like 1 or 2 days till deadline, the list has been pretty much accurate, for me anyway. At least you had them benched lol, the rest of your team have started well.

I know it's too late to change rules now, but perhaps a rule where if you picked someone to win and they do, you may select them again, would have helped this situation. No matter though, I also think he's a big major chance, and therefore will save him too. Starting him on my bench for Fantasy team, you can bet I'll be playing him if he's in the last group for Sunday!
