CrippsonBlue thanks mate, you are a legend! :thumbsu:

OP has been updated.

With this pick I'll select an incredibly talented junior who has struggled with injury thus far in his senior AFL career.

Was just starting to put it all together early in 2013 but then was cut down by an ankle injury which kept him out for the remainder of the season.

Has some real flexibility to his game with the ability to play both as a small forward as well as through the middle of the ground.

Brandon Matera may be small in stature but he is an immensely talented young footballer who hopefully will be able to put a full season together in 2014, and if he does, this selection will likely be seen as a steal.

He adds to my small forward stocks with his excellent disposal and finishing skills and I'm happy to have him.

I'll round out my list by selecting a defender and a forward

Pick #319 - Tomas Bugg, GWS Giants

bugg_17opslo-17opsm9.jpg

Tomas Bugg is only just beginning to cement his position within the best 22 of an AFL club. However, he has shown enormous potential to be a lock down small defender. As this position is rare as hens teeth in the AFL you cannot place an accurate value on his worth to the future of the Giants. I'm a firm believer that Bugg will cement his position in the GWS in 2014 and will continue to garner recognition as one of the leading small defenders in the competition and will ultimately secure his position in future All-Australian teams.

Pick #320 - Kieran Harper, North Melbourne

art_svNMELBOURNE-420x0.jpg

Harper busted out in 2012 kicking 25 goals in 23 games before only appearing in 3 games in 2013. He had every reason to be bitterly disappointed with himself which he was and the Herald Sun recently ran a newstory demonstrating Harper's maturity on his disappointing season. Although he suffered a severe ankle injury prior to being dropped from the Roos team he claimed that he had become complacent with his team in the team's 22 and that combined with the drop in confidence from the injury he was unable to recover during the season. However, he gained an understanding of the enormous amount of hard work that he has to do to realize his potential, Although he has had further surgery to the ankle he has emerged as one of the toughest and most hard working young players at the football club - a club that is primed to deliver on its plentiful potential. I'm expecting a huge 2014 and beyond from Harper.

I'll add some more depth to my midfield brigade by selecting a player who has settled into senior football quite nicely.

He has played 38 games in his first 2 seasons and has already displayed his ball-winning ability, his ferocity at the contest and his flexibility by being able to hit the scoreboard regularly.

There's not a lot of Devon Smith but he doesn't let that get in his way. He's started his career very nicely and looks to have a very bright future ahead of him at AFL level. He joins my side well down in the pecking order in terms of midfield depth, but he's a quality footballer and he'll continue to show that for many years to come.

zeeCFC has the final live pick in the draft.

It looks as though a number of people lost interest towards the end of the draft, so I'm wondering if it's worth bypassing the FA period and going straight through to trading.

Most likely looking to have trading open for a week with, of course, the aim of putting together the best side/squad for 2014.

Alternatively if people are completely sick we can stop the game at the end of the draft and just vote on who has managed to draft the best.

Thoughts?

My thoughts... Offer up a trading week on the basis that it will give people an opportunity to do a write up on their teams for voting. It will make the game a lot more satisfying if we have write ups explaining the way in which we put together our teams rather than trying to rush out a one paragraph "this is my team" with a best 22 / depth chart. Further suggestion that write ups are due within 24 hours of the trade period closing. (e.g. next Monday 6:00PM-ish = end of trade period; Tuesday 6:00PM = write ups needed).

I second Wick's idea but allow up until next Wednesday for the write ups (assuming trade period ends next Monday/Tuesday)? I'm away for the week so won't be able to do a proper write up in the mean time (though will still probably be able to participate in trading).
