2014-15 NCAA Season - MAD MARCH

The regular season starts tomorrow at 2am with tipoff between Texas Southern and Eastern Washington (I assume it's neutral?????? That would be an 8am tipoff in Washington)

Not many big games on day 1.

Wouldn't mind trying to catch Harvard-MIT (more so for the rivalry), Boise State-San Diego or Louisville-Minnesota but other than that, it's mostly crap.

the basketball games on the Pac-12 networks are free to watch on the Pac-12 website today, 10 Pac-12 teams in action. Arizona in now. UCLA on in a few hours. And tip-off marathon on Tuesday/Wednesday on ESPN and ESPN2

Random thought - If we were to assume everyone stayed for their full four years in college, and looked at players in the NBA now born after July 1, 1992, consider the guys that could still be playing college basketball:

College Seniors (born July 1, 1992 - June 30, 1993)
Anthony Davis
Shabazz Muhammad
Bismack Biyombo
Tobias Harris
Tony Wroten
Anthony Bennett
Cody Zeller
Alex Len
K.J. McDaniels
Otto Porter
Trey Burke
Evan Fournier
Ben McLemore
Devyn Marble
P.J. Hairston
Spencer Dinwiddie
Shane Larkin
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
Austin Rivers
Rodney Hood
Maurice Harkless
Nick Johnson
JaKarr Sampson
Lucas Nogueira
Ricky Ledo

College Juniors (born July 1, 1993 - June 30, 1994)
Jarnell Stokes
Dennis Schröder
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
Andre Drummond
Bradley Beal
Steven Adams
Glenn Robinson III
Nerlens Noel
Elfrid Payton
Jerami Grant
T.J. Warren
Marcus Smart
Nik Stauskas
Sergey Karasev
Kyle Anderson
Grant Jerrett
Clint Capela
Joel Embiid

College Sophmores (born July 1, 1994 - June 30, 1995)
Jabari Parker
Giannis Antetokounmpo
Archie Goodwin
Andrew Wiggins
Zach LaVine
Jusuf Nurkic
Jordan Adams
Gary Harris
Tyler Ennis
Julius Randle

College Freshmen (born July 1, 1995 - June 30, 1996)
James Young
Bruno Caboclo
Aaron Gordon
Noah Vonleh
Dante Exum

Shows how much great, still-eligible talent is "missing" from the college game. A lot of young, very talented guys in the NBA who are yet to reach their prime.

And Mad March begins!

Hoping the Mountain West can maintain 3 teams in the NCAA tourney!
Only way to get 4 is if SDSU and Boise State win out, then lose in the semi finals.
Colorado state win out and lose the final.
Some other team wins the final.

Boise State up to our highest ranking ever I believe!
Sitting at 29 after taking down (and sweeping) SDSU last week!

WIll win our next game vs San Jose state. Then try and round out the regular season vs Fresno State.
Win it, I think we technically tie for the conference with SDSU (assuming they win) but the sweep will give us the MWC Tourney #1 seed.

Are you actually in Atlanta? I was in Atlanta last year for the beginning of Mad March. Was a crazy time.
No, I'm in Adelaide.
Just felt "Atlanta" was appropriate considering my user name.

Did Atlanta for Labor Day, DragonCon, college football kickoff (4 games in Atlanta, then 1 on Athens on the weekend) black gay pride parade, everything in town.

Crazy weekend.

Went back the next weekend for Falcons-Saints (NFL) twas great too.

Up by 2 at the half.
Win and we're almost certainly in the tournament.
In fact, with the losses yesterday, we're probably already there.
But better safe than sorry.

For sh*ts and giggles (UK will win it all obviously).. i have a Wisconsin, Nova, UK, ISU final 4 with Wisconsin beating Nova for the title

My over optimism also has ND beating KU, making the elite 8 before bowing out to UK.. would be great for Grant and Connaughton to go as far as possible with the careers they have had taking our program to the next level.
