Gee, with a stat like that. Being 16th for disposal efficiency, that is amazing that we have such a glaring weakness and fortunately one that can be worked on. We have all the foundations set, now to worry about the skills.

We play a fast paced, high risk, high reward style of football, so it stands to reason we'd be a fair way down the rankings. I reckon our disposal is already pretty good all things considered. If it can get 1-2% better then look out.

Port Adelaide has focused on fine tuning its skills as it tries to emulate Hawthorn in AFL flag chase
FIVE months after trudging from the MCG in despair, Port Adelaide hopes to have addressed a problem which might have cost it last year’s preliminary final against Hawthorn.

While the Power’s torturous off-season has captured the headlines, full back Alipate Carlile has revealed the players’ skills have improved considerably after a summer spent pinpointing targets at training.
“Obviously our running has been made a big deal of but the balls have been out since day one and we’ve been working pretty hard on cleaning up our skills,’’ Carlile said when asked of a key area of improvement this off-season.
“Hawthorn has been a bit of a template for us. They have outstanding skills and that’s something that we are trying to emulate and have been working pretty hard on.

With Kenny demanding our skills improve, Vossy adding some hardness and "take no s**t" attitude to our midfielders, Ryder filling a big gap within our squad, our existing game plan and the work Burgo has done, you seriously can't not be *in excited about this coming season.

Port chasing the Hawks' kicking habits
PORT Adelaide's disposal efficiency doesn't reflect a side vying for premiership success; the Power ranked 16th last year ahead of Collingwood and Gold Coast.
The Power's attacking game meant the club generated more inside 50s than any other side in 2014 but, at just 71.2 per cent, their disposal efficiency was more than three per cent off League benchmark Hawthorn.
Vice captain Brad Ebert recently flagged the side's need to close that gap in 2015 and key defender Alipate Carlile said progress had been made over the summer.
"[The balls] were out from day one … a pretty big deal's been made about the running but we've just got to keep improving across the board," Carlile said.
"Everyone's been working pretty hard on their skills and especially the disposal efficiency. We’ve been having a crack at our kicks.
"Kenny's been pretty strict on it but it's mainly been driven by the group - Boaky and the other leaders."

Didn't you post that a page ago?
Could someone help me fix this echo on Big Footy?

Exactly right, to be honest I didn't even notice any real deficiency in disposal despite the glaring occasional clanger from our favourite mad magazine lookalike.

Improve goal kicking and given no unmanageable disasters we're there.

The only down side is the fact that it seems like 15 years since the boys trudged off the MCG: this has been the longest pre season in living memory. But once the footy finally arrives, I have no doubt the boys will make it well worth the wait!!!!

Another tall forward might get that 1-2%, opposition marks in our 50 last year would have been high compared to most other sides

The games in the middle were all about poor disposal, a loss of confidence and losing the contested ball/cclearances. That killed us. If we can up our consistency in this area we will absolutely be on target for top 4.

It appears Frampton has only been put on the LTI list from today which at an 8 week minimum allows a rookie to be upgraded until R3-4 of the premiership season.

Come on down Nathan...
i think they'll let the 5 of them earn it first. either of the sam's may show some great form in the nab games & stake their own claim for that spot. you pretty much know what you'll get from tommy. i do agree though, krak would probabaly be my choice atm. a wonderful opportunity has opened up unfortunately at the expense of young framps. at least 3 of our rookies can add something to our 22 i feel.

Come on down Nathan...
"Port Adelaide is the latest team to be involved in the recreational drug scandal that has hit the NRL and now the AFL. Reports are coming out that traces of Krac where found on their rookie list"

I think you'll find a lot of our losses in middle were due to serious illness through squad including some players hospitalised.

The main factor was an increased training load as burgess flogged them in preparation for the second half of the season and finals, this has been mentioned by Burgess and the players themselves. Apparently the third year of Burgo's three year plan does not have this requirement, and as such there should hopefully be no mid-season sluggishness.

Power ruckman Matthew Lobbe could be forced to again carry load
PORT Adelaide could start the season shorthanded in the ruck, with uncertainty over Paddy Ryder’s availability compounded by Jarrad Redden’s slow recovery from a long-term knee injury.

Former Bomber Ryder’s immediate playing future will not be known until the AFL’s anti-doping tribunal hands down its findings into the Essendon supplements saga next month.
Redden, meanwhile, is not expected to push for AFL action until mid-May, possibly leaving the lion-hearted Lobbe to play a lone role in the ruck in the early rounds.
Lobbe — named joint vice-captain with Brad Ebert this year — has carried the Port rucks for two years but coach Ken Hinkley had planned to take some of the heat off him this season, with Ryder and Redden the reinforcements.
