You are quite right.

Your posts indicate a personality which puts way too much credibility in what Phantom drafts and random posters think is going to happen in the draft.
My posts indicate that there are a variety of opinions on the subject and that the mature amoung us can handle that fact and take it for what it is.

Emma Quayle reckons Marchbank is going to GWS at pick 7

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-ne...s-firstround-predictions-20141126-11uey0.html

Also Durdin to the Cats at pick 10, and Goddard to the Saints at pick 21

And we pick up Lever

Well now I don't know what to think

She is usually the most accurate one isn't she?
Lever over Laverde, Weller and Goddard. At least it will be interesting for the next few years as we see these guys all develop and work out who won the 2014 boasting rights.
Myself, I can't see why we would take the risk on one guy with a bung knee when there are other guys around that are good picks, but obviously the club looks at the medical reports closely and if they are happy, bring him on.

Well yes, it is an internet forum full of opinions. What I liked about the BF Phantom is Knightmare's selection of McKenzie early. Put up a great rationale for it to, and is of course probably the #1 Phantom threader on here. The end result was a reshaping of that phantom draft. We did it to a small extent with Hill and Richmond have done it before as well. Geelong has made a habit of it. How clubs rate prospects is always interesting. Selections from off the script are one of the highlights of the draft.

I think we'll get Lever or Marchbank but I would prefer Goddard I think.

This is her effort last year

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-ne...es-first-round-prediction-20131120-2xvy6.html

She got 9 and 10 mixed up, 14 - 17 and 19 - 20 were wrong

She nailed 12 of the first 20, but the rest were around the mark (she had Acres going at 20 when he went at 19 etc)

Cheers
I don't actually believe anyone accurately predicts the draft with consistency outside the top 5-6, as Gav said above it just takes one unexpected selection and it all goes awry. But she mostly seems closer than anyone else.

She is, but she also puts out the latest of the phantoms. I think they are all going to have some problems with this years though. Seems to be too even and too deep a talent pool to be effective over the first round. I think the ability to split the value of talls including Wright, Lever, Durdin, Goddard and Marchbank, who all offer something different to the other is extremely hard to do.

And the knowledge of what teams are specifically looking for is not going to be put out there.

Geelong is a really good example, having seemed to jump ahead of WC to snaffle a gun mid after losing a couple of speed demons, and now seem to be in the mix for a ruck/forward, or even a KPD. Who knows?

Rahul has us taking Durdin. A discussion on Lever

Q. Is Jake lever going to be a KPP like Cale Hooker or a third tall rebounder like Andrew Mackie
A. I think he's going to be a rebounding, third defender, a bit of a mix of the two but more like Hooker. That said I have a very limited u18 viewing of his - with his injury - to make a judgment as to what he projects to be at AFL level. The plan seems to have been to mix it up with Jake at Calder, stints in midfield along with down at half-back.

In other words, a Michael Johnson replacement?

Clem Smith is exactly what we need. We never really seemed to replace Roger Hayden and I think Clem Smith is our man. Second round please

Just makes the draft more interesting. I can't remember being this pumped for a draft. Quite pathetic really, I've planned my whole day around it tomorrow. Work, family commitments, gym all juggled around the draft.

Turning to the subject of late picks for a moment, I'm still half-hoping that we manage to pick up Caleb Daniel with a late pick. I have still yet to see anyone in the draft who's quite so enigmatic. People keep commenting on his size, but I really don't see that as a factor. Has *any* club expressed any serious interest interest in him to date?

Think Gary Ablett 15 cm shorter.
Also, welcome to Bigfooty.
Just had a look on the draft machine. Serious talent there on display. It would have to be an exceptional player to make a go at AFL with a height of only 167cm these days. Barry Cable and the Krakouer brothers were this height but that was 20 years ago.

He would only be shoulder height to Freo's diminutive superstar Peter Bell.

Callum Twomey has updated his draft to allow for late mail. He has also picked up on the possibility that Marchbank may go to GWS at 6 or 7 and that we will take Lever because Durdin will be gone. Just his opinion from stuff he heard around the traps.
