I'm serious. This crowd was the same as last years last Showdown. Good effort.
Aren't you the spud that got destroyed after bagging Butcher?

I reckon if we got 40k today we will finish the season with 500k total. Can see 50K+ for Essendon, Sydney and Carlton game and was hoping for 40k for this game and Melbourne game. Melbourne is a Sunday early. If we get 45k there which I doubt we could still crack the 500k.

The big crowds are great , make sure you borrow out your ticket if you're not going , let's continue to build , makes lots of noise and talk all the kids you know into following Port , it's good being the biggest team in town

You can disregard attendances and averages for the next few weeks. MCG crowd down on average as well. You can put a large portion of the blame on the World Cup. Lot of bleary eyes around!
Bombers game will still be 50,000 plus.

Highest crowd for the week by some 12 odd thousand #tarpsforall

Well there you go 2 weeks in a row AO producing the biggest crowds in the AFL.

Can we have some of Gill's bonus if he doesn't fix up a decent stadium deal??

RD 18 vs Melbourne: 37,894

Total YTD: 386,414

Average YTD: 42,935
Can just about pencil in a total attendance after the Carlton game of > 480,000. That would make our average attendance for the year 43,636.

And the corporation at West Lakes didn't want to move...

I have been to a few of Collingwoods games and it seems like not only the crowds are
down, but also the atmosphere. It just wasn't as electric as somewhere like the adelaide oval
:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

38k to see a defensive team like Roos' Reprobates was pretty good
Especially at stupid o'clock. I very rarely miss a game but getting up and into the city on a Sunday morning is s**t.

Biggest crowd ever for a Port v Melbourne game anywhere in Oz. 15-20 minutes before the game, without being able to see how full level 5 of the eastern stand was it looked like 20,000 had rocked up. But by the the time NTUA played people either rocked up or went from the bar and kiosks to their seats and the hill.

Early crowds
Sat 1.40. Rd4 v Bris 36,231
Sat 1.10. Rd8 v Freo 38,234
Sat 1.15. Rd14 v WB 34,258
Sun 12.40 Rd18 v Mel 37,894

Every other game has started on or after 4.10 and the crowds have been between 42,374 and 52,233. The above 4 sides aren't great drawers and don't have many fans in SA or who travel. The Bulldogs and Demons crowds are the biggest ever anywhere in Oz. The Brisbane crowd is 2nd biggest home and away crowd between the 2 sides second only to the Rd 22 - 2002 game at Footy Park - winner finished top and had chance to avoid the MCG home preliminary final rule.

The Freo crowd is the 4th biggest ever between the 2 teams in either state only beaten by Rd 22 games at Footy Park and Subi
2005 Rd 22 - port win and they make finals 41,518 Footy Park
2006 Rd 22 - freo win and they secure top 4 spot 41,121 Subiaco - lose and Freo could go from 3rd to 6th
2007 Rd 22 - port win and they get 2nd spot and home QF the next week 39,270 Footy park

Port fans and those opposition fans that rock up are voting with their feet that twilight and night games are the most popular despite what the surveys say.

I make that total 1,000 less raman

anyway 1997 has been our biggest season so far in the AFL with 394,115 and average 35,828, and we will smash that by about 80,000-85,000.

Interestingly enough 1997 was also the biggest away crowds we drew with 301,875 and we played decent venues in Melbourne and not all over the country in small venues. The only other season we drew 300,000 away fans was 2004 with 300,097. With 204k already you would think if Collingwood fans turn up in a couple of weeks as with Freo and Gold Coast fans we should crack the 300k away fans again.
