Though we can keep all injury and suspension news for 2014 in this thread.:thumbsu:

Geelong captain Joel Selwood has met with specialists and undergone minor surgery on his foot.

The Cats had been managing Selwood through the pain in the foot but decided for surgery as the best option.

Hmm bit of a concern being off his legs for 3 weeks.Even if that number is right that means he basically resumes running about the time the nab cup starts. Dammit I was so set on my midfield. I guess I can get Cotchin and hopefully get Selwood at a reduced price if he takes a bit of time to wind up into the season like last year.

#in before.........Higgins has had his foot amputated, may miss 2 weeks
Far out.. Really?? That may well be the catalyst his SC career has been waiting for.. I'm getting on board..

Any word on that young kid Billings from st.kilda? Hurt his quad before Christmas, expensive rookie, but hoping he would break into the side quickly with his mid/fwd status?

If fit and firing come rd 1 he could be the forward line version of JMart.

Was more precautionary, stopped kicking and just did running up to Christmas, all good since then apparently,

As for rd 1? :confused:

I'd doubt very much that he'll play early on. Probably a good downgrade option later in the year.

J.Selwood looming as a very tasty round 9 upgrade option.

Was never going to start with Selwood anyways due to round 8 bye (Ablett, Pendles, Beams) so this will work out perfectly for me with bringing him in after the byes. :thumbsu:

Jelwood - second half of year midfield upgrade target No. 1, :thumbsu:

2013;

rd1-11 5x sub 100 scores
Rd13-23 1x sub 100 score (v Freo & Crowley)

Selwood = GUN!

Every half decent SC team will have him in their team before SC finals. Mad if you don't! :thumbsu:

He & Swan hopefully at a good discount at their rd 8 byes,

Ready to pick them both up and go on their 2nd half year runs, ;)

I'd like to think that my midfield will look something like this after the byes

Ablett, Pendles, Jelwood, Swan, Watson, Cotchin, Murphy, Beams.

Why not? I'm not saying that he will or wont be but I would like to hear a reason as to why he wont be considering he's been in the top 10 three times in the last four years.

Edit: 4 out of the last 5 years.
For starters, I said top 8, not top 10 - but anyway.

He was in the top 10 when the number 1 tag went to Judd. He proved last year he can't handle a tag.

Plus, I consider the following ahead of him (in no particular order)
GAJ
Pendles
Jelwood
Beames
Watson
Griffen
Rockliff
Cotchin
Stevie J
Dangerfield
Swan
And if he learnt to limit his clangers, Fyfe
