Across the board things won't work as effectively as working out what works best for each individual. What works a treat for one could have the opposite effect on someone else, as I found out very clearly in the past. Eliminating things that don't work for you can make an incredible difference to your overall health, energy levels, fitness and wellbeing though. Health issues I'd had in the past such as asthma and other chronic problems that drugs and so-on made little difference with were completely eliminated with simple, albeit rather dramatic dietary and some lifestyle changes.

As someone who has gone through unspecific diet and digestion related issues, its ******* awful news and I hope it hasnt been hitting him too hard.

Also is it actually Coeliac disease here?

I don't think so. As far as I know Coeliac disease is easily diagnosable via a test and is much more severe that just an intolerance. I lived with a girl that was a diagnosed Coeliac and if she ate any significant quantity of gluten she'd be vomiting and have diarrhea for hours and even small amounts would make her feel sick.

I ask only because gluten "intolerance" outside of Coeliac etc.. is largely garbage. Could very well be a wheat allergy however.

Paleo diet for the entire team!

Surely it would be stupid to take the press release at face value wouldn't it.
Doesn't mention other foods such as rice, so no real suggestion that its gluten.

But they seem to be suggesting that they've identified the problem and that as far as they are aware gotten on top of it, hence my saying that that is terrific news, because it is very likely that that was holding him back to a degree and that he will now be lighter, fitter, healthier and have more energy as a result.

Doesn't sound like he had a really major problem, but if he's 10% better off now then that is a lot in footy terms and it's great for him on a personal front as well of course.

They do actually mention rice, but I'm pretty sure rice doesn't contain gluten, so that wouldn't matter anyway:

"It took some adjusting. Dunstan initially added rice to his list of banned foods that already included carb-heavy bread and pasta, before realising the grain was actually beneficial to his energy levels.

"I was a little bit flat to start with, but once you get used to it your body adapts," he said.

"Rice is fine and I have that with chicken so it isn't too bad.

"I still get my energy and I felt a lot better after just 10 days so I've been sticking with it and I feel lots better."

Wouldn't mind Rice next year

Grew up with a Wheat intolerance until my teens, it's not so bad. Just don't eat a bunch of white bread and you'll be fine. They make some decent Rye breads, I couldn't have dairy either though, that was rough... No ice cream. Bad memories....

Yeah , I just googled rice, and was suprised to see it's Gluten free.
Pity about the beer.

Sorry to break the negative news with some positive news, but we will announce two new, very big sponsorship deals very soon.
Any more news on this?

I too am hearing whispers of a new major sponsorship deal, from within the potential sponsor. I heard just on Sunday it is basically over the line, just nutting out the details.

If our boys can stay out of trouble off the park, it sounds quite lucrative! Especially if my mate at said sponsor can score me some tickets from time to time :D

ST KILDA is hopeful Sam Gilbert will be running by Christmas after the luckless defender underwent another bout of surgery on his troublesome left foot.

The 28-year-old had seemingly put the complaint he initially suffered last pre-season behind him to play three AFL games towards the end of the season.

But he broke down again in round 22 and consulted Sydney-based surgeon Kim Slater – a foot and ankle specialist – which led to revision surgery.

Gilbert is now scheduled to start pre-season on an off-legs program, which will extend until he gets the all clear from the surgeon.

The aim is to have the wingman running in December.
