Whincup knew that when you switch to reserve you have two and half laps of sugar cane left. He switched to reserve with 3 laps remaining. The team is saying that they were wrong about how far Jamie could get on reserve, it was less. But they still say they told him he wasn't going to make it. Even though, if they were right about their numbers, he would of made it.
