Other 2015 AFL Premiership Season and Beyond - Collingwood

Welcome to the 2015 AFL Premiership Season. Unfortunately being on a Mac means that there are limited games to install and play, while for those that you can play, the lists are always old or the bugs are always there. If you ever had a similar childhood to mine with an interest in stats, I would always randomise numbers to come up with scores of games to simulate through a season. It was very basic, but of course that way it would end with scores potentially like 180-23 or something ridiculous (I guess that happens on FF too). Given I can't play any actual simulation games at the moment, I thought I'd use my own stats just purely based on scores for and against (both for the team and against) and then create a story out of there and see how it goes. It may sound a bit complicated, but it's more about the story than anything else. So without further ado, lets begin.

Collingwood secure first win against Beams' Lions

COLLINGWOOD secured a win in its opening round fixture after a disappointing pre-season that yielded no wins. Monster forward Travis Cloke booted six goals in a dominating performance, while Scott Pendlebury (33 disposals, five clearances, six tackles, two goals) and Tom Langdon (28 disposals, 10 marks) were among the best.

The Pies had a host of fresh faces with Travis Varcoe (Geelong), Levi Greenwood (North Melbourne) and Nathan Freeman (Sandringham Dragons) all making their official debuts in the black and white. While ex-star Dayne Beams was solid with 24 disposals, he had his work cut out for him against Levi Greenwood.

Nathan Freeman was a welcome face in the team when he replaced Ben Kennedy late in the third quarter. The speedster had seven disposals and two marks for the game, but looked lively and more importantly, didn't reinjure his hamstring.

The 48-point win was impressive and the Pies certainly had a score to settle to remind Beams what he had left. For the Lions, Tom Rockliff (32 disposals, four marks, two goals) and Dayne Zorko (12 disposals, three goals, eight tackles) were the best.

The win was an impressive one for the Pies before heading to Melbourne for the next few weeks.
