Obviously Roo will smash it.

Would think Jammo would also be a popular choice

On Jameson, I think you're right but I hope not. If we're going to have member-elected positions then I'd like members to take those seats, otherwise it turns into "most popular ex-player" award night. Since we're trying to end the Boy's Club, that would be counter-productive.

Spot on mate

Don't we just need the best persons for the job?

Don't we want a proper representation for the members? When 50% of your supporter base is female and the Board so far is made up only of males, then a gender balance is required desperately. She has been on boards before, is an exceedingly experienced HR manager at some very major companies, so there is the managerial experience of business as well.

Kate Gould will be upset to hear she's a male.

Then great, if she's experienced, competent and the best candidate - brilliant would love to see her get on, with the added bonus of gender equalising.

However I don't believe in positive discrimination ie you get the job because of gender. It should not be a determining factor.

I'm all for a board that reflects our member demographics, but I don't think that we should vote for a particular candidate just to achieve that balance if there are more qualified candidates available.

If we find that we're consistently having female candidates who are less qualified than the males, the task then is to work out what we can do to get the more qualified females to put their hand up, rather than just elect whichever ones do.

All of that said, as yet I haven't yet looked at anything more than the list of names, so she may very well be the best of them.

It's all well & good to say "best candidate for the job", but how is that quantified as a Member elected Board position?

What are the KPI's for this role?

When do we get each candidate's spiel on their reasons for nomination?

Do we not get this? I figured there'd be something on the club site before the vote.

Personally, the main thing I'm looking for for this first position, is someone who will push for expanding member rights and for making additional spots on the board member elected.

Found it:

Each candidate was asked to supply a brief summary of their background and professional experience, and those will be available to eligible Members when voting opens next week.

Was hoping that there'd also be a part where they state what they want to achieve.

I'm still dirty that the club has put Roo up in this way. He was hand picked by the board (and has done an outstanding job), but he is not one of the 'members' nominations that this was intended for. He should take someone else's position on the board.
It looks like the Crows trying to minimise the actual members input.

Mind you having been at one of the members forums, that might be a wise decision!

Absolutely agree!!

And well after Jamieson's mug has appeared in the Advertiser, ensuring that most people have already made up their minds well before getting any info on the other candidates. I'd hazard a guess that he'll get interviewed on AA as well.

I'll be surprised if the 2 member elected directors aren't Roo and Jamo. They both seem to have been publicly positioned to fill the roles. Sit back and watch propaganda work its magic.

Just thought of two things.

If the election process turns into a... shemozzle, at least it will be of the board's creation. In my mind, Fagan will be spotless still.

And... I suddenly thought, what happens when you take a dictatorship, remove the dictator, and ask a populace who does not know the freedom to vote, to vote? Can they be trusted? Can I?

Could there also not be something in the old saying , "Better the Devil you know, than the Devil you don't know"...??

Looking at someone's Bio and making a decision on that alone is also fraught with danger is it not??
