Would clubs spend a first round pick on a small lockdown defender though? That's basically my argument.

He's worth a lot more to us than he would for an opposing side.
I agree that he's worth a lot more to us.

But I do think a lot of clubs would trade a first round pick (and a high one at that) for Smith. Easy.

There will be no trading of Smooch...if that happens I will be having a tanty of epic proportions.

way too much for 1 player. I know eddie can't see that, what with the chins in the way, but surely somebody with some sense would.

And as if teams wont just bid now and play ducks and drakes

So now Heeney would of cost us pick 18 37 38 and 57 with the new rules in last years draft[/QUOTE]

A hypothetical.

We secure pick 1 in the trade period. We use pick 1 to secure Mills.

Do we still get the 20% discount (600 points) to push up another draft pick or get an additional draft pick?

- 600 points would give us pick 31 if we wanted another pick.

- If we had a predicted pick 17 we could use the 600 points to move that pick 17 up to pick 8.

Is this how it would work if we used our own picks to bid for an Academy or Father / Son prospect?

Did anyone else notice this part of the article:

"Dunkley, who plays for the Gippsland Power in country Victoria, is considering his options and is no certainty to nominate as a future Swan"

Does anyone know a reason why he wouldnt want to??

Sick and Fuc$king tired over being bent over by the AFL and Co for playing by the rules. They might as well fold us and Share our players between Collingwood and Hawthorn

Not at all but still think its stupid

Bend over sydney and take it should be the title of the report

I think we will only have a issue if both players are bid on inside the top 10.

Harley made a statement a few mins ago sounds reasonably happy especially with the sliding fixed discount of points.

It is what it is man and i think we are in a superb position if we manage to get Mills and Dunkely regardless what it costs.

Folks who are unhappy answer my question would you do the following trade

In : Pick 2 (Heeney)

Out : 18,37,38,57

If you said yes well its the exact same thing.

We shouldnt have too imo
