Wasn't McDonough going to be snapped up by Adelaide and win the Brownlow?

All that debate about a player that some argued black and blue was best 22 but in the end wasn't best 680 (or thereabouts)

List in definitely immediately stronger.

However the ceiling for potential growth is like comparing a terrace home in North Melbourne to a loft apartment on the Upper East Side.

Think weve done very well

Lost some experience, but added talented youth who can continue to develop. We also added a couple who have been in the system so can have immediate impact (Yarran, Moore, Townsend).

Foley, Knights and Petterd hardly played at all last year anyway, so to have replaced them with guys who are ready to go is a huge plus

To improve you need to first ear mark what makes you want to improve...ie. we have realized that good ordinary solid citizens have a limit to where they can take you and that included Newmo. I still believe we would have made more of an impact over the last 3 years if Knighta hadnt copped the knee...tipping the brains trust had to fudge HF after his demise...So we now have a couple of x-factors to add to a pretty solid base..

Didn't lose anything much. Gained talent in a weakness - yarran. Depth in inside mids, maybe good talent there - we'll see. Plus lots of X factor types and running guys. Longer term could have the small forward and ruck we need.

So overall we attacked weaknesses, lost no one important and build for the future. So positive, without being amazing.

Pretty much where I'm at. Outcome was positive but not ground shaking

7 - solid off-season. Lots of potential in our new recruits, obviously some risk involved but if it pays off we will have a seriously good list that will bat far deeper than just 22-30 blokes.

I think the other good thing from a current list management perspective (rather than individual perspective) is that our churn is mostly due to retirement rather than players leaving or being spuds. While we had a couple of bottom players go, it's only a couple.

If things go right, development and fitness, our list will be much stronger in 2016 without the ins. Yarran could really turbocharge our run and carry. If he can start to open our forward line up then we could start scoring heavily. That's the big change. The other guys in are really about batting deeper, especially inside contests. So 7/10 for list changes.

But if Conca stays fit, CEllis gets fit and develops, Griff fit and improves, McBean gets stronger and matures, Astbury fit and plays to his best, Menadue improves, Short fit and firing ...... Our list a way better without any real changes to the first 18. Then if TV can keep his form good and consistent, Vlas gets fitter and can move into the middle, Dusty gets fitter and can be more involved, Cotch gets tougher and can deal with tags better, ..... we go upwards anyway. Combined we might just be stronger inside, far more dynamic outside, improve the defense and score much more heavily. That is a series of incremental changes (+ Yarran) that step changes the team. :thumbsu::rainbow:

If everything goes right.

That's a lot of ifs....but I get the message.
I don't want to be too excited, this years start was diabolical and if we repeat that, things will get ugly at tigerland.
Having said that, I am quietly confident that boys will improve and the additions (trade) will make an impact straight away.
