Considering the AFl outside of SA was down about 500 thousand in attendances, considering Essendon might draw bigger security details than crowds, considering the decline of caringbush,Western bulldogs, st kilda, carlton and probably Geelong. This fixture will need to deliver a few party tricks to maintain crowds.

Think we'll see attendances rise slightly this year.

SA should be great again like last year.

WA will stay at it's usual 35-37k average.

QLD crowds should rise slightly with both the Suns and Lions looking like they'll be on the up.

Sydney crowds should at least stay the same as this year if the Swans keep doing well, Giants are a bit of an unknown entity.

And the crowds in Victoria should improve with the blockbuster games back on Saturday Afternoon.

Article in the OP says that there won't be many 'party tricks' or 'experiments' or whatever one wants to call them. They will be getting back to basics - ie Saturday arvo MCG games, no variable pricing etc.

Alot of people consider 3 Victorian teams may drop out of the final 8 next year and replaced by non Victorian teams. One of the party tricks will be favorable draws leading up to Victorian clubs playing Port,Freo and Sydney. Lots of 6 day breaks for the interstaters and 7-8 for their Victorian opponent.

Round 1 match ups all but confirmed

Thursday April 2 - Carlton vs Richmond @ MCG (season opener)
Saturday April 4 - Brisbane vs Collingwood @ GABBA (night match)
Monday April 6 - Hawthorn vs Geelong @ MCG (traditional Easter Monday clash)

You would also safely predict the Giants vs Swans will again take place first up, but unlike the three previous seasons will be a Swans "home" game first up at the SCG as Spotless is out of action due to the Easter Show

Port 3 Friday nights hey.

All the toys out of the cot if the Crows only get 1.
Not really. Our brand was s**t last year so we should not expect Friday night games. But Thursday would be good for a couple. We get Crowds no matter what, so we will probably get 5 Sunday afternoon games including Easter Sunday and Mother's day. We also get to go to Perth for the last game this year:rolleyes:

Adelaide to open their season at Adelaide Oval.
Port to open on the road.

I can only assume Fremantle will open their season at Patersons, as west coast did so in 2014.
