2015 Fixture Leaks

Only just occurred to me, but the AFL article on Richmond's draw kinda implies they are heading down to the Cattery. Mentions they have 14 MCG games and only 1 Etihad, leaving 7, and it's unlikely they'll play all of those interstate considering 5-6 is standard for Vic teams.

It looks like that article is just quoting the one in The Age, which only stated that Richmond would get one home game at Docklands, and didn't mention away games. There had elsewhere been mention of Richmond possibly going to Hobart to play the Kangas as well, which could add to their interstate travel. Don't see why Caro's article wouldn't have mentioned either a trip to Tassie or to Geelong if she's seen the fixture.

GWS Giants first five:

Round 1 - Sunday 5th April - v St Kilda (Etihad)
Round 2 - 11/12 April in Canberra
Round 3 - 18/19 April - v Sydney (SCG) #SydneyIsOrange
Round 4 - Saturday 25th April in Canberra - probably v Gold Coast
Round 5 - 2/3 May at Spotless

A couple of amendments:
Round 2, GWS's opponent in Canberra will be Melbourne.
Can confirm round 4 will be against Gold Coast.
Round 5 is in Perth. First Spotless game is round 6, the Giants will be hosting Hawthorn - the first appearance by the Hawks in the Land of the Giants.

Is round 5 against the Eagles or Dockers?

Absolutely awesome if true. I am also assuming that Hawks will play Sydney in Sydney - so this will be fantastic for all Hawks fans, here in Sydney.

Crows to finish against Essendon in Melbourne. Port at home according to News limited.

Wow - A final round away game for Adelaide that isn't in Perth....?!

Little list of teams who have travelled to Perth in the last round of the season (and how often) since Fremantle joined...

No surprises here, different rules for the top teams.

Just on the 'ANZAC eve' game, will it mean that there are two Melbourne-Richmond games with the clubs splitting the gate for both a la Essendon and Collingwood?

Richmond aren't big on gate sharing. If it's their home game on ANZAC Eve they'll be looking to keep it all.

I would expect a leak from the AFL today as they have been pushed off the front page due to Racing, Soccer etcc. Maybe a couple from the papers to come through tonight for tomorrow paper. Tuesday we have the NAB cup fixture and then maybe 1 or 2 last leaks on Wednesday night maybe from channel 7 with the first couple of Friday night games or something. Then Thursday I can't wait for.

According to a draft version of the fixture:

  • Geelong play Hawthorn, Sydney, North, Adelaide and Collingwood twice
  • Only 5 interstate games
  • 8 home games at Simonds Stadium
  • 2 MCG home games vs. Hawthorn and Collingwood, 1 Etihad vs. Carlton

Only playing Freo once next year it seems.
Where do they play north on the return game? Would imagine it would be at Etihad like most other years.

As long as Carlton is not playing on 6 June (Saturday of Round 10), I will love the fixture.

#bigday
