Well when you say "as good as result as he'll get in his career" and he's already gotten better results in his past, you look kinda stupid.

Geez. The value of 2nd/3rd places is relative. You get to stand on the podium and receive a trophy, which is better than not doing so. But it's not a win. So for someone who's never going to win/ contend for a title, it's a result of the same value.
