Well, I've just had a look. And I'd be pulling the trigger on either Garlett or Lever.

not sure about Garlett but Lever looks a special.

Really classy player…..but do we run the risk? I suspect we will if he's there to take.

I think they are both a risk.
Both class though. And god knows we need it.
I don't think goddard is anywhere near lever class wise.

There was a lot of talk about getting another big Inside-Midfielder in this draft.

Please check Nick Mellington's profile listed as a "smokie" on the AFL Draft Machine.

Watch how great he reads the tap work, he's a clearance specialist!

The Richmond bigfooty forum is all over him...

Why is this in red?

Anyway, 30 possessions, 10 clearances in a losing game is pretty good. Would be happy to get him as well.

We need a few of these guys seriously...

FWIW I would take isaac conway in the rookie draft.

Not the worst I have seen. Does have any right side?

What do you think of Lever V Marchbank Pure. I'll be a little spewy if he is there at 21 , have to admit.

Lever is a class above for mine lever then goddard then durdin then marchbank imo.

Marchbank is a good stopper but has no rebound. Lever defends well but is an attacking weapon-can set up rebound attacks like a taylor or enright or mackie.

On what I have seen , Lever and Marchbank fit the Harry Taylor type intercept roll , Goddard and Durdin have the chance to be the bigger bulky type roll.
and just on the vision , I like what I see of Marchbank. I think its far from concusive who will end up the best player out of them. Lever looks good but im not convinced on his kicking , so he is far from what I see is the perfect HT replacement.Lever ahead yes but not but heaps, and considering Lever has not even played this year , what would you be picking? Not that much between them.

My thoughts are based on limited data , what I have seen at the champs and highlights, so its biased. Out of the 4 I would probably have Goddard 4. Goddard apparently finished the year very well but when I look at his package I prefer Durdin. Years ago id have just said its that close pick the local. A couple have departure have burnt me on that.

I just think Lever looks to attack much more than Marchbank does and that's half the battle, Marchbank is fairly content just to stop a player. Lever is fine enough by foot but it's his intercept marking that reminds me of Taylor. He's very highly rated for leadership skills too which Geelong values in players.

The major benefit of Goddard over the other 3 is his size, he can take a really big forward and is very strong. I think he could be as good as Lever if he finds more consistency.

I wouldnt worry about go home stuff, I mean Christensen is from Lara and his uncle played for us and yet due to his 'issues' he is in QLD. It proves that trying to predict go home factor is pointless.

Off the track of drafting, I wonder if we would be interested in Cam Delaney with our first rookie pick? We did show interest in his brother last year and we do still need a KPD.

Delaney is suffering from a long term toe injury, he has played 11 games at both afl and vfl level in the last two years. It's the reason they delisted him.

I am aware of that, but pending medical clearance he would be a good cheap get. I actually rate him higher than Luke and Luke was very good for St Kilda this year.

Durdin, Goddard, Lever or Marchbank would all be welcome at the Cattery.

Personally I don't think you lose with any of them even though they bring different skills.

All good players.

I remember Luke Tapscott being linked to our first round pick a few few back. He's a tough player and I think Melb wanted him more than Blease. Still might re-rookie him. Worth a look?

Hamling announced as signing with the dogs this morning.

Never got a lookin at Geelong. Think there is still something to him. You could do a lot worse than have him playing the mackie type role.

Go Catters
