Injury 2015 Injury List update (keep it all in here)

Interesting that Gibbs isn't playing in the first NAB challenge match nor did he play in the Intra-Club match last Friday. Given that we don't have another NAB Challenge match for over 2 weeks would mean no match practice for approximately a month. That would make me somewhat suspicious that he's being more than just simply "managed" and is suffering, and/or recovering, from an "undisclosed" injury. Even if fully fit, while I wouldn't have expected he'd play in both, I would have thought he'd play in one or the other. Since you're our man on the ground HARKER, have you noticed anything that would lead you to either disregard or confirm this assertion???
He also missed the community camp.

I don’t begrudge the club getting the odd one wrong, as clearly Walker’s knee is. I mean we all know docs don’t always get it right. And there is always an element of risk with surgery. It doesn’t always work, a person’s body might not respond as hoped, there might be other complications etc.

My issue is the club coming out every other day saying how good the injury list is, when every other day another player gets injured, and the list suddenly is fairly long. I know injuries can come this time of year due to training loads, but maybe the club out to put a muzzle on the ‘our list is so healthy’ talk when it is clear as day we have more than our fair share on injuries right now.

If you want to put some top spin on it, be honest and say “we have some injuries right now, but that is to be expected, and the good thing is it gives a lot of the talented youngsters on our list a chance to show their worth’.

Yes I was wondering about Gibbs also

I'd have thought he would have played one of these two games

Can understand they want to keep it quiet though, just hope it isnt a big concern.

Gee from looking like a pretty good pre season injury wise to all these little injuries coming out of nowhere!! Although this is normal, I was expecting a cleaner bill of health... Knowing our luck someone will do an acl Friday night!!

The plot thickens.

We don't have any confirmation as to whether Gibbs is injured or not yet at this particular point of time. All ZeeCFC & I are indicating is that we're somewhat suspicious about his injury status given his lack of participation in recent and upcoming events. Those who attend the open training sessions may be able provide better clarity regarding his fitness.

can't have all 3 number 1 picks injured at same time

Yes and I agree it is a bit odd

One thing though, each player has a different training plan, so it is possible he is in a bit of a rest period now

Possibly

Or he is carrying something and they want to keep it quiet

How could you possibly know whether the club medical staff got anything wrong at all? For all you know, they all knew exactly what the risks were, what was likely to happen and there was nothing that could be done about it other than crossing fingers and toes and hoping for the best.

It would be like me critiquing the architect who drew the plans up for my home. I wouldn't have a clue how to draw plans, how to read them or whether they were executed correctly by the builder.

And before there is any talk of 'It happens too much to be a coincidence' - that isn't a legitimate argument. Correlation does not equal causation.

Your view is just as much speculation as mine

How do you know the doctors didn't get it wrong?

It is gut feel. Op in July. Op in Dec. Op in Feb.
I don't think I'd be the first and only person to look at that trail of surgery and conclude perhaps they got it wrong, somehow.

Remember I also said there are other complications, which implies the unexpected.
Indeed I also said there is an element of risk, which reflects your comment about crossing fingers.

Perhaps though you need to see a doctor who specialises in vision and get your eyes checked.

That is fine

In hindsight what I said was not clear

I think they might have got it wrong, because 3 ops in a row isn't great

But there are a host of other variables that can impact this and I readily acknowledge this

And even if they did get it wrong, aside from Kreuz who might very well not have the right feet for the rigours of modern footy, one stuff up isn't that bad really when you think about how high performance AFL is these days

Though I am sure Walks isn't over the moon right now, regardless of why he has had his third trip under the knife for this knee

Interestingly, I notice Haw have 1 injured player, at least that which is listed. I know that is adding fuel to the fire but there you go I have said it :)

Further to the above, and not related to the HAw comment, I know how hard it is for the medicos

The AFL is arguably the most demanding game on the planet, and there is an fine line btw getting players to the level they need to be to compete and going too far and injuring them

Tough gig

maybe its still feb & they reckon Gibbs will remember how to play footy... he's probably trained the house down, is super fit & is being eased off for a few weeks & will have a couple late games.

Gibbs won't be risked on non AFL grounds i wouldn't have thought.
He'll probably play a full game at Etihad, and perhaps our last practice match.

From the website looks like only Walker and Kruz missing come round 1.

For mine Whiley will come into when Carrazzo is out. He tends to miss a handful of games during every season and thats enough for Whiley or Holman (who ever is performing better to come in) to get some experience without us becoming relient upon them just yet. Thats your cotingency plan for when Carrots retires. Equally Cripps for Judd. Its all about depth and succession planning

Cripps is mainly an 'inside' player from what I've heard, MileHigh ?

That is to say Judd started his career as an outside runner (5 goals against Brisbane) but only really came of age as a contested stoppage player at the Blues after building muscle mass in 130 odd games at West Coast.

So Patrick is more 2004 Kouta than 2004 Judd?

If he even gets close to resembling either player we will all be ecstatic.
