The skills were really poor yesterday. Got absolutely dominated in the clearances and the forwards were given very little quality delivery. Thought Bourke, Beasley and Watts battled manfully down back. Really impressed with Beasley, played on both Phillips (ruckman) and Kelly when he drifted forward. Think it was McGuinness who was helped off the ground not really sure what with, hope he's alright. Dawson will be a very good player but his attitude at the moment is not up to senior footy. Clearly he can play - he kicked four goals straight and probably had around 15-20 possessions - he's a great contested mark, but you can't afford to blaze away from 60 metres out bombing it up to the square when you have your talls leading up towards you. Nevertheless I think he along with Andrews will be 200 + game players for the Lions. Bewick was very good and Harwood worked hard but overall they were outplayed by Kelly (classy game) and the Giants' listed players. Hammelmann had a couple of tough moments being worked off the ball but was impressive again with his limited opportunities. Kicked two straight from set shots around 50m out. Thought Archie Smith showed some good signs in the ruck for his first game back. Also love no. 51's effort as a tall forward, looks around 2m tall and works really hard.

That would be Eric Hipwood, academy eligible player this year.

How are the academy boys going when they play?
Keys, hipwood etc.
These boys have had quite a few games already this season whether it be U18's State or NEAFL games with Lions Resi's. This week a good bunch of them (Hipwood, Keays etc) will play for Lions Resi's against Aspley on Saturday @ 1.30pm. Keays & Wagner have been standouts while Hipwood & some of the other boys have had flash's of good efforts without setting the game alight. Apart from that, the U18's National Carnival is fast approaching where they will all participate and really need to show what they are made of.

Thanks for the update.

Have heard quite a bit about keays, not so much about Wagner. So with a bit of luck we might pick up both. I will be watching the u18 champs with interest.

Goose not named. Must have been a decent hit. Or maybe he's not playing for some other reason.

Harwood the only emergency playing reserves. Although I'm not sure what is going on with number 8.

Harding with 2 goals now. Looks like Bourke and ZoB are playing well with nobody else doing much.
