When did C. Brown make the move to the Tigers? I would of assumed he would of stayed loyal to the Hornets... (But personally, definitely would NOT add him to the list)
Would love to see D. Brown have another crack at footy! Great young talent, pity about his injuries!

If the Tigers feel ready to re-enter, they should! Has been very evident of there capabilities on the field over the last few years. Of course, provided the Tigers are replaced, along with the other apparent team that mite drop. QAFL definitely due for a Sunshinecoast team to join, but oh well!
 
Both Mayne sides have tall, quick and fit players I don't see any reason they couldn't compete with some clubs in the QAFL. Personally I think Maroochydore is the closest of the coast clubs to the promotion. They're constantly improving their team as well as their ground. The extra money they get from the council each year would help the burden of money also.
 
Yeah Maroochy have a decent facility that should be a plus for them, I Have no doubt they won't go into the QAFL with eyes closed

You are talking about a different caleb brown to everyone else. Aspley have a caleb brown on their list too.

What's this extra money u speak of??? Never saw a council donation in the P&L report last year. Just a monthly rent fee payable 12 mths of the year!! Noosa are financially best placed, maroochy logistically and juniors wise best placed. Yes the side is improving and certainly the club is more financial than it was 3yrs back but to compete with the morning sides and Labradors of this world there would need to be a fair improvement again.

Comes into the whole sport complex as a whole I'm sure the club see some of it.
 
Nup - not a cent. The complex is maintained by the council but we pay rent to ensure this is the case. other clubs (Noosa for eg) are able to do what they like with their ground but rely on volunteers to look after the oval etc. Some years we have had the council sponsor us but thats the only $$ that come our way from them.

As a Redcliffe supporter a massive thanks to the Lions, not only for use of the ground and the opportunity to run a sausage sizzle but from what I've heard the donation of produce to cater it!!

Footy1st - MB were fantastic. Roos extremely lucky to get across the line. Losing the youngest Dickfos thru the 3rd qrt hurt MB but they played a really good brand of footy, hard at it, quick on the spread and skills were pretty good. We were very impressed at Maroochydore with them. Great night actually, fantastic lights, dancing girls, good crowd, great atmosphere. hats off to the footy club who are now starting to move in the right direction. Is there any thought of the 2 big cats, Lions and Redcliffe Tigers merging together, esp with Redcliffes ground issues. MB Tigers? Would be a strong footy club and provide a great avenue for footballers on the far north side of bris.

The boys were absolutely gutted. But everyone at the Club is so proud of them. We're on a mission to win back some respect, and I think we took a big stride last night.

My thoughts have been that AFLQ would see the long term goal as MB as the only Senior club for the greater region with all existing clubs being feeder clubs from 16-18 yr old level. Only problem could be with less local clubs (and assuming MB continue to grow and have success) those that don't make the cut will have fewer options to have a kick. Without many young Dads playing their kids may lack some inspiration to play as its less of a constant as they grow up. Redcliffe these days have a very large number of kids whose fathers played there. But with MB's good spirited gestures & speaking to a committee person last night, the Tigers wouldn't have any problem if a talented young footballer that wanted to try a higher comp, in recommending the Lions.
 
What i found out last night from a few of the dads I know at MB was that the 17's are in Div 1 - this is a massive thing bc the major problem the footy club has had in the past decade is talented youngsters moving to Aspley/Sandgate bc they have juniors that play div 1. With a football school in the area (NVSHS) you would think that only time will create a pretty strong nucleus of young fellas. And a competitive senior side means the young kids will strive to play in it rather than laugh at it...

Pretty spot on, mate. 17s have been promoted to Div 1 after big wins in the grading games. A lot of those boys played in the 16s premiership last year, and there's some guns amongst them. Two actually played Seniors on Saturday night. In fact, there were only five or six blokes above the age of 23 in our side.

I don't think AFLQ want us to be the only team in Moreton Bay because, as you've pointed out, it would not be healthy for the game. Due to our facilities though, I do believe they want us playing at a higher level than any of the other clubs. Redcliffe and Pine Rivers below us, and then Bribie below them, means there's a club for most ability and commitment levels within the region. There are at least two junior-only clubs nearby to us that we're hoping will feed into our Seniors, so I don't think we'd need or want to be chasing after other senior clubs' juniors. But as you say, having us a grade above means there's opportunity for talented kids to test themselves if they want.
 
On a different matter I was really disappointed that a teams supporters would bring their own alcohol to our struggling club. Our club rely heavily on canteen and bar sales, as I am sure others do as well. This club doesn't seem to have a cash flow problem. I can only base this on the players imported this year. Please encourage your supporters to buy from the bar of the home team, I know our club does. Yes this was highlighted to the visiting clubs President. Not sure of the outcome as I was busy volunteering my time to try and raise some cash through raffles etc.

I don't really want to mention clubs as sometimes it is difficult to have control over supporters. These were not reserve players that I saw. Yes agreed, Maroochydore are very good at staying behind and socialising.
 
Copeland could be carrying a shoulder injury by the looks of it. Very limp and just swung by his side the whole game.
 
Someone from Nambour needs to have a word with the bloke who goal umpired the twos on Saturday. After one of our guys made an admittedly late and clumsy attempt to spoil, he started calling him a "dog c***" and said it was no wonder we had trouble attracting people to our club with players like him around (the irony being, the player in question is actually a new recruit).

When another of our players suggested he should maybe concentrate on umpiring, he responded, "I can still goal umpire while knocking c***s out!"

More than a little hypocritical to question another club's culture when you're a match official threatening violence against that same club's players.
 
Blockbuster this weekend at Everton Mayne v Maroochydore, we should get Faulkner back this week.
