From the 2014 Brisbane International pre tournament dinner. Byrons Firen can you match Rupert McCall's wild imagination of a great footy game??

That's a big ask REH. Rupert McCalls monologue was magnificent and no small feat of memory.

Adelaide March 29th 2014.
Fine and sunny the gift from above.
In the city's heart a throbbing beat
talk the talk was now a walk the walk
A walk the city had never seen
by those who had never done it.
New ground was broken by those who were a token
to a love that had spoken to so many for so long.
Our colours held high for a Showdown to decide

The to and fro
from the ebb and flow
had scores on a knife edge
with a quarter and a bit to go

#21 with a scything run
bouncing the ball
in the shadows of the sun
passed to someone anyone
Schulz on hand
to get a job done

The game run and won
had seen history here in the making
the power to win and never give in
a true Port Adelaide tradition.

Port were back in town
something happened that day
We knew it
and thats all that matters

That's a bloody good effort BF in such a short time. Here's another one Rupert McCall did for the 25th anniversary of the Hopman Cup on Decembber 31 2012. Its longer and he needs his notes. He also did a great poem A Fireman's Dream, which he spoke/performed to the NY Fire Department guys in 2010 and they invited him back to read it at ground zero in 2011 on the 10th anniversary. The words have been put on a poster and used to raise funds for families of fire fighters who have died doing their work in USA. Here is the Harry Hopman tribute.

You guys probably know the Fed Express won his 1000th game on Sunday night at Brisbane. But the stats of the now 3 - 1,000th game winners is bloody close - percentage wise.

THE 1000 CLUB (WITH WIN/LOSS RECORD)
Jimmy Connors 1253-278
Ivan Lendl 1071-239
Roger Federer 1000-227

The winning percentages are
Connors 81.8419%
Lendel.. 81.7557%
Federer 81.4996%

So if you apply Connors' and Lendl's winning percentage to 1227 the number of games Federer has played you get the following number of wins
Connors 1004.2 wins
Lendl.... 1003.1 wins

Bloody tight race. I guess we will see Federer play his 1,310th game this year ie another 83 games and see if he has more or less than Lendl's 1071 wins.

PLAYERS BEATEN MOST BY FEDERER
21 - Andy Roddick
19 - Novak Djokovic, Nikolay Davydenko
18 - Lleyton Hewitt
16 - David Ferrer, Robin Soderling

a few port hats around the kokkinakis camp, also noted the one and only jackson trengove watching too.

TIP OF THE WEEK

Go to 7sports website and click on live coverage. Then click on the court you want to watch.

You get the tennis, minus commentators, with the mics turned up so loud that you can hear the players talking to themselves. Perfect. All the crowd fun too.

Why isn't it always like this?
