I read an earlier article about the Sheffield Cricket Final has contention with the AFL for venues like the MCG and SCG in the Easter period. I am not sure this is the reason of two games in Queensland for that weekend. I do not know cricket enough to fully comprehend the issue.

No. We always get the 3:20 game on FTA.
There are only two teams in Perth and Ch 7 guarantees all Dockers and Eagles games broadcasted FTA, disregard of where and when the game is played.
Yeah, that's why being in a 10 team state sucks.
I always figured two Vic sides (say Hawthorn and North for next year) get all their games guaranteed to be on FTA into Melbourne and not clash with each other.
Has happened a few times recently.
Sorry, I think we are talking about different places. I mean there is no 3:20 pm Sunday game in Perth. I believe you are talking about in Melbourne.

Cricket Australia have agreed to let the AFL use the MCG over the Easter weekend; and the AFL's contract with Adelaide Oval gives them access. Potentially the SCG, the Gabba or Blundstone could be required for cricket.
Pretty sure the crows play away round 1 in 2016.
Every year, the fixture does consist some surprises. We have only 16 days to wait and see if this is a final version!

I like the NFL approach of the reigning champions vs a decent team opening the season.
Elimination final loser Richmond vs 18th place Carlton would be a bloody underwhelming way to start.

Reigning Champs v a big supported club that finished no lower than 12th
however the reigning champ opponent needs to be shared around a bit, can't have Collingwood hog it every year

All I know is on May 1st there will be no games at docklands, Adelaide oval or Subiaco.
I believed it is no change with 23 rounds and 1 bye. Start 1 week earlier than 2015 and hence GF back to last Saturday of September.
