Assuming the favourites win the elimination finals our bracket will contain
  1. Adelaide (certainty)
  2. Collingwood (likely)
  3. Geelong (moderate)
  4. North Melbourne
  5. Greater Western Sydney
I'd say we will play three middle 6 teams twice one top 6 side twice and one bottom 6 side twice.

My guess is that our double-ups will be
  • Hawthorn x2
  • Adelaide x2
  • North Melbourne x2
  • Geelong x2
  • Carlton x2

TOUGHEST 2015 FIXTURES (BASED ON 2015 RESULTS)
1. Port Adelaide (21)
2. Geelong (34) +13
3. Fremantle (37) +16
4. Gold Coast Suns (41) +20
5. Essendon (42) +21
6. West Coast Eagles (44) +23
6. Melbourne (44) +23
8. St Kilda (47) +26
9. North Melbourne (48) +27
9. Carlton (48) +27
11. Sydney Swans (49) +28
12. Richmond (54) +33
12. Adelaide Crows (54) +33
14. Western Bulldogs (55) +34
14. Brisbane Lions (55) +34
16. Hawthorn (56) +35
17. Collingwood (61) + 40
18. GWS Giants (65) +44

If anyone has any means of guessing this it is possible to form the basic frame of our fixture next year.

#yepconfirmed
  • Round 1 home game
  • Adelaide Crows x2
  • First Showdown generally round 2-6 (often 3 to 5).
  • Second Showdown generally round 15-22 (often 15 to 19)
  • Bye rotation suggests we will get middle bye next year.
  • 100% lock for Gold Coast and North Melbourne at home.
  • Geelong at Kadina likely.
  • Fremantle double-up unlikely.
  • West Coast double up likely.

We'll get a 2/2/1 split of top six, middle six, bottom six. Especially if
the crows beat the Dogs. There is no way in hell Gil would have our only double against the top six a side that's only beaten us the last 3 years twice - and those only due to Trengove going down in 2014 and us handing our home game over in 2015.

Given how we struggled against Sydney they are my lock for the other top 6 double up. Bulldogs at Emptyhad will be one of the Middle six.

My guesses - Adelaide, Sydney, Bulldogs, Collingwood (will improve) and GC (won't be bottom six next year).

So not as bad as this year, but put money on the hardest it can be given we finished 7-12.

From a crowd number and bragging rights perspective I would like to play Collingwood or Richmond twice. More than 1 game per season at the MCG might also be nice too.

I'd say we are a very very slim chance to play Fremantle twice. If we did it would be three years in a row.

Mark it down, we will play them twice again.

I'd love the Hawks at Adelaide Oval ANZAC day night again. Was proved as success.
also no Thursday night games, period. I hate that time slot.

I think the AFL will alter the way they do the fixture again, and say we take your performance over 3yrs... so we will have to play WCE, FREO, HAW, SYD, CROWS and a combined ALL-Stars side twice, and only getting to play GWS and Melb at home while every other game is away.

If we can poach a cpl of suns players, would love to play them twice, to remind them twice. Also think we get hawks, crows and Freo/wce twice (after all rnd 23 next year we are due in WA again). Maybe Melb and Coll twice as well?

The AFL love the Port v Hawks matchup as the ideal display of tough, fast, free-flowing footy. Almost certain to be a double up.
I'd actually almost lock in Collingwood for a double over North, with us being one of their Thursday night home games.

Here's my prediction:

Hawthorn and Fremantle twice from the top 6 bracket.
Adelaide and either Collingwood or Geelong twice from the middle 6 bracket.
Gold Coast twice from the bottom 6 bracket.

North Melbourne away (again).

· Sides ranked 7-12 on the ladder will have
a minimum of one double-meeting with sides ranked 1-6 on the ladder and a maximum of two meetings with sides ranked 1-6.
They will have a minimum of two double-meetings of sides ranked 7-12 and a maximum of three double-meetings of sides 7-12.
They will have a minimum of one double-meeting of sides ranked 13-18 and a maximum of two double-meetings of sides ranked 13-18.

so its 2+2+1 or 1+3+1

Weren't AFL house trying to bring up the idea of a 17-5 model to the clubs?

Play everyone once, then based on ladder position, teams are grouped into 6 (top 6, middle 6 and bottom 6), who then play eachother.

Anyway if that doesnt happen, then obviously we'll double up against Hawks, Swans, WC, Freo (in round 1 and 23) and Adelaide, and play North away in round 3. Mid year the AFL will reintroduce representative football, but will trial it by forming teams from Vic, WA and the allies to play against Port (who can't rest players for the games in midweek because it will be deemed tanking).

You really need to finish 13-18 to guarantee a friendly draw. Depending on how the finals play out we could still end up with Hawthorn, Fremantle, Adelaide, Richmond and (insert bottom 6 team) twice.

Before this year, between 2000-2014 we have played the following teams, so there might be a bit of re-balancing and catch up. Its probably why we got Sydney and Bulldogs twice this year. This years double up teams in bold

31 Adelaide
25 Hawthorn
24 Brisbane, Fremantle, North Melbourne
23 Carlton, Geelong, Melbourne, West Coast
21 Collingwood, Essendon, Richmond, St Kilda
19 Sydney, Western Bulldogs
5 GC
4 GWS

Most probably double up teams in bold (italics for higher ranked teams that may finish in our 6)

25 Hawthorn
24 Brisbane, Fremantle, North Melbourne
23 Carlton, Geelong, Melbourne, West Coast
21 Collingwood, Essendon, Richmond, St Kilda
19 Sydney, Western Bulldogs
5 GC
4 GWS

So maybe we will double up with Collingwood.

In before Collingwood at home Round 1.
