Re: 24. Trent Croad

It is a shame that he hasn't been able to celebrate to the same extent as the other boys due to his foot as he truly deserves to.
By the way, for some reason I can't view the videos of Hawthorn on Bigpond. It is driving me insane as I wanted to watch the one with his daughter the RND 16 from the Nest, all I get is the sound and no picture.
If someone could help me or tell me how else I could view it that would be GREAT help.

Nicholas Naitanui to wipe out Hawk's 11-year record

TRENT Croad may celebrate Hawthorn's premiership for some time, but a record he set 11 years ago has only hours to live. The Hawks defender set a mark of 83cm in the vertical jump test at the 1997 draft camp.

And it has remained untouched. Until now.

Hawthorn re-signs last of its premiership players

Jon Ralph | November 08, 2008 12:00am

...................

Hawthorn's first to fourth-year players will start training on Monday and the rest of the squad will return a week later.

Franklin, who had surgery on his shoulder and his hand, which became infected, will do limited training.

The club will not rush Trent Croad (foot) and Robbie Campbell, who has had minor surgery on his wrist.

Hawk hopes rise as Croad hits the track

HAWTHORN defender Trent Croad has started running in his recovery from the broken foot sustained in the grand final victory over Geelong.

However, it is unclear when Croad, 28, will make his return to the field, with assistant coach John Barker confirming Croad’s rehabilitation still has a long way to go.

HAWTHORN'S Trent Croad says he is supremely confident of a full return to football but yesterday warned fans they must be patient.

Croad last week started running for the first time this pre-season, four months after he dramatically broke his foot early in the second quarter of Hawthorn's Grand Final win.

The 28-year-old's foot is healing well and he is considered ahead of schedule, but Croad said yesterday he still faced a long and delicate recovery.

He hopes he can quickly build fitness and strength in the foot but said the rare nature of the injury and potential for setbacks meant he had no idea when he would play again.

A return to football early in the season would seem optimistic because Croad would need to build a pre-season base and test out his surgically repaired foot.

Sounds like he is still someway off. Starting to doubt he'll make the first month of AFL footy proper.

  • THE price paid by Trent Croad in fulfilling his lifelong dream has been counted many times this summer.
Croad has a swollen 5cm scar running down his damaged foot, which he jokes contains "more hardware than Bunnings" courtesy of several screws.
He missed a week of euphoric celebrations and a footy trip to Macau and Las Vegas as his teammates basked in the premiership's warm afterglow.

  • RARELY has an established footballer been more pleased about repetition running.
Twenty runs of 150m, to be precise, arguably the most tedious training task of all.
A beaming Trent Croad said later: "Pain free, too."
The foundation stone of Hawthorn's defence could not have been happier after the most significant step in four months of rehabilitation.
It was a huge leap metaphorically for Croad, who faced the prospect of missing a chunk of the new season with the foot injury that forced him out of the 2008 Grand Final before halftime.

HAWTHORN'S defence is under siege, with Trent Croad having ankle surgery and Shane Crawford rating the backline a "concern".

Croad's season was already hampered by surgery to the left foot he injured in last year's Grand Final.

Undermanned and winless after Saturday night's 38-point loss to Sydney at ANZ Stadium, the Hawks will be without Croad until at least the second half of the season.

HAWTHORN remains confident that Trent Croad will play a part in its flag defence, with the injured defender resuming low-level training this week.

Croad, 29, has not played since breaking his foot in last year’s grand final win against Geelong.

KEY HAWTHORN defender Trent Croad could return to the side within a fortnight.:thumbsu:
Hawks coach Alastair Clarkson said Croad, who broke his foot in the team's grand final win last year, was training well and could be back in contention within weeks.

Re: 24. Trent Croad

Hawthorn will not entertain the idea of abandoning the comeback of veteran defender Trent Croad as long as the team remains in finals contention.
Croad, 29, has not played since suffering a serious foot injury during last year's grand final win over Geelong, but has been back in training for the past three weeks.
With the Hawks now having lost their past three matches - the latest being a humiliating 88-point loss to the Western Bulldogs - resulting in a slide to 11th on the ladder, the team is on the verge of becoming the first defending premier to miss the finals since Adelaide in 1999.

Re: 24. Trent Croad

Was listening to 6PR today with Brad Hardie talking about Trent Croad.

He said that Hawthorn have already put Croad in cotton wool for this year. While Croad has been training, he was saying that he had no problems with his sprinting, but as he was slowing down and stopping, his bone was still hurting. "Bone has not healed fully."

Whether this is old news or current news, does not look good for Croad in 2009. :(

Trent Croad
He didn’t play a game, but hopefully the surgery that he has had recently will help him heal. Hopefully he will get back, which we’re all wishing and hoping for. We’ll see how that goes.
