"In taking 12 years and 42 days from debut to play 150 matches, an achievement he once thought impossible, he became the seventh slowest to reach the milestone in the history of the game at the elite level. He and former West Coast teammate Michael Gardiner (12 years, 70 days) are the only two players in the top seven of that list whose careers were not interrupted by World War I or World War II."
