Delisted #28: Elliott Kavanagh - Gone to play SANFL

I've always wondered why there are no african-american swimmers. Maybe because they realise it's such a s**t sport.

It's not a sport, it's an excercise.

One is a multiple world champion and the other struggles to find the footy in the VFL. Yep, the world champion is definitely the bigger bust.
Magnussen talked himself up a lot prior to the Olympics. His expectations were a lot greater than those of pick 19 in the 2011 draft. World championship swimming results are pretty much irrelevant - it's all about the Olympics, where he was a massive flop.

More people than watch the AFL for starters. Millions more in fact.

What's Kav done in the AFL? What about the VFL? He yet to earn a single AFL game on merit in three seasons.
You don't understand what the word "disappointment" means. Kav was an injury-plagued pick 19 who's never completed a full pre-season and whose output has matched his expectations. Magnussen had massive expectations at the Olympics in 2012, was expected to bring home 3 gold medals around his neck, but took home none.

Magnussen is the better sportsman, that's bleedingly obvious, but that's not the argument. Magnussen is the bigger disappointment because he's failed to reach the heights that he seems so arrogant about getting to, relative to his sporting ability.

A poster on Blitz also mentioned that his girlfriend ditching him for James Magnussen may have also contributed to Kav pulling his finger out

Yep. Didn't want to post this until someone else did, but the full story doesn't paint Rose in a very good picture.

All the best for Elliot. Hope he uses this as motivation to break into the side and really carve out a career.

Eth is write about the Olympics.

Magnussen choked in the 100m final - He was over 0.37 seconds fastest qualifier in the semi's of the 100m - Once you qualify fastest by more than 0.3s you should always win the gold. Remember that in the 50m and 100m they go flat out.

As a point of comparison in the womens 100 free - A dutch swimmer with an Indonesian name was the fastest qualifier by around 0.4s. She comfortably won the final.

Lemme guess, she cheated.

He really is the quiet type, but then they're the ones you got to watch out for... well, at least the ones in the corner of a pub.

Faith building - all the best to him this season and beyond!

Since when is Kavanagh an elite of elite endurance runner? Beating Stants in the 2km time trials and pushing ambrose.

I never thought he had great fitness from missing so much footy in his draft year and taking it easy in his first year at the dons. Great to see this guy giving it everything to improve. Think hes seemling himself getting into the team more so for his endurance rather than his speed/skill combo now.

He will be the predecessor to stanton IMO 2 years time.

His eyes bug me.

Just sayin.
