Delisted #28: Elliott Kavanagh - Gone to play SANFL

So must be the other 17 clubs list managers and recruiters. We must all be getting it wrong.
Oh that old chestnut. 17 clubs have passed on plenty of good players on the trade or draft table as well.

When you've been in the system for 4 years and no one wants you then alarm bells should be ringing.

But I guess we've become accustomed to overrating our list cloggers over the years with the likes of Ricky Dyson, Lonergan, Jetta, Hardingham, Prismall, Atkinson, Slattery.

Here's a question for ya.. will Kav play more AFL games than any of Dyson, Jetta, Lonergan?

When our team was completely dismembered by a crazed lunatic we were forced to keep list cloggers like the aforementioned.

As a project player, Kav was always a 3+ year player. Into his fourth year in the system, he is showing those signs of why many rated him such a high commodity at the draft table.

Will Kav play close to 100 games? No one really knows. I was pretty sure Myers body wouldn't allow him to. He's still a season off it but he has always shown he can play at the top level. Apply that to Kavanagh now.

Yep, and they did in his ears. Followed up with his best ever pre-season, averaging over 20 disposals, 4 marks and 6 tackles across both levels of football, and has improved his all round game this season.

Where exactly was Colyer this time last year which was his fifth year?

Colyer showed plenty in year 1 and 2. He had serious pace but had some kicking issues. He always had AFL talent from day one.

Every man and his dog knew he had a pretty good chance of being an AFL player bar the naysayers on this board.

Kav on the other hand... everyone is praying he magically comes good. Story of our list.

Kav's first year was a write-off due to injury, everyone knew that, and yet he made his debut anyway. Years 2 and 3 he shows more signs, little handballs to players in the open. You could tell he had the potential to be a good AFL player other than the naysayers on this board.

Little handballs. lol. So executing a basic skill of the game is showing a sign? As long as guys like Kav, Stanton, Goddard, Howlett, Melksham are running around in our midfield we'll continue to be mediocre.

You can't accept players improve. And listing our best performed midfielder this season just shows how little of a clue you have.

I sit on the fence with Kav, no actually I probably side a little with the negative and fingers firmly crossed.
But if you have a look at the 2011 draft there isn't much talent after his pick (19), so the fact that he is still a chance of making it is a bonus.
For now....
