After R14 2014 8 goal haul against the Doggies. From the AFL website. There was an article too. But it was one of about 5 stories, with the other 4 not about Port. So I haven't linked to it.

Schulz kicked 58 goals in 71 games in 7 seasons at Richmond. He has now kicked 198 goals in 84 games in less than 5 seasons at Port Adelaide. It would seem reasonable to think that if he'd been at Port then he would have
1. Played more than those 71 games he played at Richmond
2. Played more than those 84 games he played at Port as he would have been entrenched in the AFL team by then and not been dropped to the SANFL
3. Been played a lot more as a deep-lying forward
4. Kicked something like 400-450 goals in 200 games

The question of what would have happened with Brett Ebert may have arisen but the fact he was played sometimes as a major target was never the favoured one, even though in 2007 especially he did uncommonly well. He may have had a midfield run but it would seem more likely that he would have still been a small forward.

You can't run these hypotheticals. Maybe Schulz is only as good as he is because of the kick up the arse he got by being dumped by Richmond. Maybe if Schulz was here the whole time he wouldn't have flourished in Tredrea's shadow and we would have given up on him too. Who knows.

very good mark by Schulzy (against the cows) in the 2nd showdown....

could that area be the Schulzy & Sammy Gray pocket ???

After Buddy's six last night the Coleman is looking to be his for the taking. Last nights game by him was even more a tale of the second half than the one against us. When they played us he got the ball in the first half, just couldn't score goals. Last night he only had 2 or 3 disposals to half-time and no score. He kicked 5 goals in the third quarter when Sydney kicked 10 goals to zero.

Review by TeeKray
Jay’s 2015 was solid rather than spectacular. His goal tally was down to 44 and there were numerous games he struggled to have an impact on. However, he still finished second for goals at the club. His strongest patch of form was from rounds 3 to 5 when he kicked 4, 5 and 5 goals in successive weeks, all being important contributions to close fought wins. Jay’s year was also dogged by speculation that he was unhappy with Port’s offer of a contract extension and leaning towards signing with Fremantle. This speculation grew as the season went on and reached a crescendo when he spent a considerable amount of time thanking the crowd after our round 23 season ender. In the end, Schulzy did the right thing and signed a one year extension at Port. Jay will enter 2016 as perhaps the secondary tall target in our forward line following the recruitment of Charlie Dixon, something he will no doubt enjoy after so many years of close attention from the opposition.
