Myers is in a similar category to Hocking, too. Just a little more unknown, I suppose; as of last week he was still on non-contact duties.

Myers comeback should actually be easier than hocking. Myers has not had a leg injury so should have far better running capacity than hocking. However like Ablett his shoulder could be a weakness although Myers wouldn't get targeted liked Ablett was. Myers may need to play more outside to protect his shoulder perhaps on a wing utilising his gun left foot.

Is Winders only 2 weeks away? If he can get back his fitness, a forward line with him Chappy and Cooney and Joe and Carlisle in form could have me quite firm.
He'd probably be our "specialist sub" for this year.

Everyone in our team made mistakes, the point is his second effort set the tone for the entire side. I dare say we didn't look back after that..
It's possible to think he did both good and bad things...

I'd say the fumbles and poor passes probably outweigh his playing with intensity, into that game being a sub-par performance. Effort and intensity are kind of prerequisites. I like him though, and I think he'll look better the longer he's in the side.

Bit cooked. Will persist with him though. Needs to get either the red or green vest every now and then.

he's finished. now FFS can we develop a younger player sooner rather than later.

Don't see the point, start giving a few of the young lads a bit more of a run.
Should of had 'we'll' instead of 'will'. As he wont be dropped, but I struggle to see the point also. I think getting him for nothing was a good move, but we might have to select which games he takes part in.

Not sure his ability to contribute is even the point.....was brought in for finals (and delivered magnificently in that environment). If we aren't going to be there, in any meaningful way, then let's play Fantasia.

He needs to go. He is not doing enough to warrant his selection.
Too slow, and he shouldn't be playing up the ground. He should be left in the forward pocket and try and generate goals at the feet of Carlisle and Daniher who continue to not holds marks in the forward line consistently.

Carrying a few niggels including a groin issue which has effected his pace and change of direction. Is playing like an old bloke who is injured and has come to the realisation he is in an average side who may well struggle to get into the 8.
Looks like his time is up, was horrible on Saturday.

Oh ffs, another bloke playing injured. Can we stop doing this? Of course not, we're the Essendon Football club.

The issue with leaving him in a forward pocket is he can't chase. If you can't put pressure on defenders as a small forward these days your a liability. It's almost as important for a small forward to tackle and pressure as it is to kick goals.

Chapman and Cooney both play well fresh but don't back up well week to week. We should consider alternating who plays week to week out of these two and only occasionally play them together. This way:
  • Both Chappy and Cooney are fresh and less likely to be injured
  • We still have one of them for experience
  • We can play one extra younger forward so they don't stifle development
