Better than I expectedHighlights video - http://www.afl.com.au/video/2014-10-27/draft-prospect-mitch-king
Seems to tap it down to Oliver a lot.
a lot better, what's not to like, takes plenty of the kind of marks you'd expect from the tall guy, seems to have good awareness of his team-mates around him, tidy kick, good tap work. I know it's a highlights package, but looks an excellent prospect for down the track somewhere.Better than I expected
And long may he continue to do so.Highlights video - http://www.afl.com.au/video/2014-10-27/draft-prospect-mitch-king

Getting outbid for Flynn may prove to be a good thing down the track.I cant believe im saying this but i really like the look of this kid.
Was expecting to see some kid with no idea and zero kicking fundamentals but that highights tape really suprised me.
Love the second efforts and tackling also. Impressive stuff, very happy with this pick in a shallow draft.
Quite impressive, actually. Clean hands, moves well for a big man, and I really like that he backs himself to kick the ball and seems to do a good job of it; unlike other talls who always look for the handball off.

I don't get it, why were none of the other clubs biting?
or is it just this supposed trend of letting others draft the young rucks, then trading for them a few years down the track when they're ready to play?

This is Melbourne - we don't "waste" draft picks (anymore)Im happy that we didnt 'waste' a high pick on a ruckman, it usually only ends in disappointment anyway if you go back through the draft history. I could only assume clubs are shy about taking rucks early because of this as well.
At #42 though, absolute no brainer.

Nice article.
One thing - his mum started screaming when it was announced he was going to Melbourne? I mean, I get that were not entirely a destination club quite yet, but seems an overly negative response
Pretty sure it's just because she was glad that he's going to a Melbourne-based club.Nice article.
