Height: 184cm
Weight: 84kg
DOB: 08/05/91
Recruited from: Northern Knights (VIC)
Bio: Hard at it inside midfielder who is constantly bringing teammates into the game. Top 10 in the TAC Cup for clearences and contested possessions in 2009. Awareness and decision making under pressure are tremendous. His 2.95 sec for 20m and level 13.9 beep test was very good at Victorian screening.

In his own words
What type of player are you?
Hard at it inside onballer, with good hands and overhead mark. I enjoy getting in and dishing out passes to running players. I also enjoy playing off half back. I am a good running player who reads the play.

Which AFL player do you resemble, and why?
Brad Sewell, due to his attack on the ball and good use by hand.

What are your strengths as a footballer?
Coachable work ethic, attitude, read play well, attack on the ball, good quick hands, good vision, ability to bring others into the game.

What parts of your game would you like to improve?
Speed and endurance, these areas are essential at the top level.

Which AFL team do you support and how did you come to barrack for them?
North Melbourne as my grandfather (Terry Benton) played 88 games for them. I also followed Nathan Buckley through his career.

Who has been the biggest influence on your career so far, and why?
My family, particularly my father due to his honesty and ongoing support over the years.

Re: AFL draft machine highlights

Has a good Under 16 pedigree and just seems to have been forgotten about because he went overseas and scaled footy back. If he is committed, this could be a real steal.

Oh he is. First training session for the club and he was training in the main group and didn't look out of place.

Would love to see this kid get a game but it will be hard to get into our middfield. Anyone know how he has been going down at the bullants?
I hope the blues stick with him would love to see him run out in the navy blue.

Blue kids on the block

In the months since a bout of osteitis pubis interrupted his pre-season preparations, Jaryd has steadily strung together a sequence of creditable performances for the Northern Bullants. It’s all part of the learning process en route to what the 19 year-old St Kevins boy hopes will be that happy day when he runs out sporting the No.28 dark Navy Blue guernsey made famous by Peter Jones . . . whenever that may be.

Had 30 possessions and 8 tackles on the weekend for the Bullants.

Impressive stats, yet they couldn't find a place for him in the 6 best Bullants players on the ground - puzzling seeing as though he played in a losing side.

Where did you get those stats from?
